  • You may redeem awards based on the mileage accumulated in your account. You may use the award yourself or transfer it to a relative or friend (Please refer to Award Transfer).
  • Before redeeming awards, please check the Seasonality Chart. If the date of any flight in your itinerary falls on the blackout dates, the corresponding award redemption level for blackout dates will apply, requiring a greater number of mileage. During all other periods, only mileage of non-blackout-date is needed.

  • The mileage levels for upgrade awards by using self-owned mileage or an on-line transferred award are adjusted as below. All required miles for redemption are on segments applied and a single flight number basis.

Remarks:
  1. Mileage levels for upgrade to Premium Economy class and Premium Business class are available for flights providing Premium Economy class and Premium Business class service.
  2. During the transition period members can still use original upgrade award levels (45,000 miles, Award code UPCA) issued on/before 28 February, 2018 for travel between Taipei and New Zealand on/after 1 April, 2018. Effective from 1 March, 2018, members who wish to redeem Economy class to Premium Business class upgrade award for travel between Taipei and New Zealand on/after 1 April, 2018, should use new award levels (60,000 miles, Award code UPBA).
  3. During the transition period members can still use original upgrade award levels (35,000 miles, Award code UPDA) issued on/before 28 February, 2018 for travel between Taipei and Brisbane/ Melbourne on/after 1 April, 2018. Effective from 1 March, 2018, members who wish to redeem Economy class to Premium Business class upgrade award for travel between Taipei and Brisbane/ Melbourne on/after 1 April, 2018, should use new award levels (60,000 miles, Award code UPBA).
  4. Effective immediately, member may redeem Economy class to Premium Economy class and Premium Economy class to Premium Business class upgrade award between Taipei and New Zealand / Brisbane/ Melbourne for traveling on/after 25 March, 2018.
  5. The miles levels required is based on applicable routes not by the aircraft.

Remarks:
  1. Members can still use original upgrade award levels (45,000 miles, Award code UPCA) issued on/before 28 February, 2018 for travel between Taipei and New Zealand on/after 1 April, 2018 while holding economy class ticket with booking classes Y/B/M/K/V/T/R/Q/H/N. Effective from 1 March, 2018, passenger should hold economy class ticket with booking class Y/B/M and new upgrade award UPBA to be applicable for upgrade between Taipei and New Zealand for travel on/after 1 April, 2018.
  2. Members can still use original upgrade award levels (35,000 miles, Award code UPDA) issued on/before 28 February, 2018 for travel between Taipei and Brisbane/ Melbourne on/after 1 April, 2018 while holding economy class ticket with booking classes Y/B/M/K/V/T/R/Q/H/N. Effective from 1 March, 2018, passenger should hold economy class ticket with booking class Y/B/M and new upgrade award UPBA to be applicable for upgrade between Taipei and Brisbane/ Melbourne for travel on/after 1 April, 2018.
Redemption Procedure

Redemption Procedure

  • Members should make sure that they have sufficient mileage or an applicable award number to redeem an award. To transfer upgrade awards to another person, please complete transfer procedures first (please refer to Award Transfer).
  • Members must apply for a class upgrade through a China Airlines reservation agent and book a confirmed seat in the upgraded class 24 hours before departure. If you are using an upgrade award transferred from another person, please quote the "Award Number" when making the reservation.
  • The following ticket types are not eligible for class upgrade:
    a. Discounted tickets (AD, ID, DG, SC, BP, CG, etc.) barter, infant, labor or free tickets.
    b. Group or individual tickets using G ticket classes.
    c. Promotional tickets(tickets using E ticket class for long haul) or with restrictions, and the booking/ticketing class which is not eligible for Cabin Class Upgrade.
  • A flight using an upgrade award can only be credited into Dynasty Flyer Program account.
  • An infant should pay fare difference for a class upgrade when traveling with an adult member using upgrade award.
  • Members may access to China Airlines website to redeem upgrade awards at Dynasty Member web page.

Important Notes

  • Requesting Upgrade with miles at Airport:
    If a requested upgrade seat cannot be confirmed 24 hours prior to flight departure, or to Go show requesting the upgrade at airport without any reservation,
    1. Members must have sufficient mileages or valid award numbers and hold one eligible ticket , then may book and obtain a confirmed or stand-by upgrade booking on the same    reservation record. ( The booking class for Premium class is P class, for Premium Business/Business class is I class )
    2. Following airport check-in, where seating in the upgrade class is available on the flight, the standing-by upgrade can be arranged according to upgrade procedures.
    3. If the original ticket class presented at the airport check-in counter does not comply with the rules for upgrade, the member must pay fare difference between the two classes    and the service charge involved.
    4. To use transferred award to upgrade, please make sure award transfer procedures have been completed first. ( Three working days )
    5. Stand-by and Go-show upgrade booking is not available via CI web site.
  • China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines reserve the right to limit or adjust the number of passenger upgrades subject to the status of booking on each flight. The upgrade seats may not be available on some flights or at some period, even if seats are available for paid tickets.
  • If the ticket presented at the airport check-in counter does not comply with the rules for upgrade, the member must abide by the airport staff's recommendation. Member will be most likely asked to purchase another ticket, pay fare difference between the two classes, or check in according to the ticket class.
  • The upgrade awards service is only available for tickets booked for scheduled international CI/AE operated flights. The upgrade awards are not applicable to any code-shared flights operated by China Airlines with any other partner airlines. Upgrade awards are applicable to the following flights:
    1. Code-shared flights no. 5000 ~5999 and 7000 ~ 9999 are excluded.
    2. Redemption is also available for below code-share flights with other carriers: Flights between Taipei and Hanoi, and Kaohsiung and Ho Chi Minh City operated by Vietnam Airlines.
    3. Redemption is terminated for China Airlines and Korean Air code-share flights between Taipei and Seoul since October 30th, 2016
    4. Redemption for flights between Taipei and Yangon should be redeemed at CI branch office only.
    5. The service does not apply to any code-shared flights operated by China Airlines and any other partner airlines.        
  • The required mileage for an upgrade award is calculated on a single flight number basis. If the itinerary includes a stopover or transfer (change flight number en route), the mileage required for an upgrade on each flight must be added together.
  • Class upgrades are limited to single class upgrades. Passengers should take a seat in accordance with their ticketed class in case they are transferred to other carriers.
  • If there are any changes to the related regulations or if China Airlines comes out with a different version of the upgrade awards service in accordance with adjustments in cabin configuration, we will inform our members via a variety of means, such as the Membership News and Mileage Records on the China Airlines Official Website.
  • Members may not request for a date change or cancellation of a upgrade award via China Airlines website member area.
  • Mileage Purchase for Immediate Cabin Upgrade at the airport is suspended on/after March 19,2016, please have your upgrade booking confirmed 24 hours prior to flight departure.
