Reminders for Airport check-in and custom procedures earlier during the Lunar New Year Holidays. 18 jan, 2023Due to the large number of passengers flying during the Lunar New Year Holidays, we kindly remind you to go to the airport earlier for your check-in process.
To shorten your waiting time, kindly note the following points:- Before heading to the airport, please complete the Online Self-Check-In on China Airlines' official website.
- Before heading to the airport, well-prepare the required entry documents for each region/country's immigration regulations and complete the registration such as applications download or online customs pre-clearance procedures.
- Clearly acknowledged your free baggage allowance and special baggage check-in rules beforehand to save time for repacking your baggage.
- Clearly acknowledged the transport rules of dangerous goods (e.g. lighters, lithium batteries, mobile power, etc.) to avoid for possible baggage recheck-in.
- Counter check-in service closing time will be 60 minutes before flight departure.
May we remind you, after checked-in your baggage, please proceed to security inspection as well as customs procedures ,then go to the boarding gate for waiting in advance. -
Important Notice for passengers departing from Mainland China and transiting via Taiwan 11 jan, 2023Chinese passport holders departing from Mainland China and transiting via Taiwan to a third country must prepare the necessary travel documents for inspection.

For travel date on/after 28DEC 2022, children and infant free baggage allowance, oversized policy for musical instrument and packing regulations of sporting equipment of CI/AE international sectors will be adjusted. 27 dec, 2022
- In additional to the original free baggage allowance, children and infants (no matter if occupying a seat or not occupying a seat) can check-in one collapsible stroller free of charge.
- Adjust oversized regulations for check-in musical instrument to be one piece of excess baggage charge rate should be applied if the total dimensions of each musical instrument exceed 158cm(62in), provided that it can be accepted as checked baggage subject to space availability of cargo cabin on the flight.
- Packing regulations of sporting equipment are adjusted as follows: (Bicycles/Sporting Firearms & Ammunition remain unchanged)

Application CI/AE Flight cancellation or irregularity Eligibility Passengers holding CI/AE valid tickets (Change regulations are applicable to Dynasty Flyer Program Award Ticket). Application Date Must file applications on/before 31MAR23. Change a. Within ticket validity, the fare/tax/booking service charge differences and reissue charge, including over-counter charge, shall be waived once provided that booking class/Carrier/Routing (City) remains unchanged. Flights operated by CI/AE shall not be rebooked to codeshare flights or other airlines flights. Ticket issued on CI website please contact the branch office or Call Center to change the booking. b. Within ticket validity, if the above item is not applicable, the difference of fare/tax caused by the change of the booking class/itinerary should be paid by the passenger. The booking service charge difference and reissue charge, including the over-counter charge, shall be waived once. Refund a. For totally unused tickets: Full refund can be performed without imposing any refund charge/penalty. b. For partially used tickets: Refund charge can be waived. c. Chargeable seats and Prepaid excess baggage can be fully refunded. d. Original tickets issued via the CI website, call centers, and the branch offices can apply for a refund via CI Website. Group / Discount Tickets Discount tickets do not apply to the principles above. For group tickets, please contact your travel agency. No Show Fee No show fee shall be waived provided that passengers are denied boarding their flights at airports due to suspected infection of pneumonia or respiratory syndrome.

Starting from December 16, 2022, the passenger check-in counter of China Airlines at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) will be transferred to counter row E instead of row B at the terminal 2. Thank you for your attention.

Application: Passengers holding CI/AE valid tickets including Dynasty Flyer Program Award Ticket with confirmed bookings on CI KHH-PVG flights between 01JAN'23~28FEB'23 were affected by the flight cancellation. Application Date: Must file applications on/before 31MAR23. Change: A. CI flights KHH to PVG (a) Within ticket validity, it is permitted to reschedule to any TWN to PRC/HKG flights operated by CI/AE provided that booking class remains unchanged, and the fare/tax/booking service charge differences and reissue charge including over-counter charge shall be waived once. (b) Within ticket validity, the fare/tax differences incurred by the other changes except for Change A (a) mentioned above shall be paid by passengers, and the booking service charge difference and the reissue charge including over-counter charge shall be waived once. B. CI flights PVG to KHH (a) Within ticket validity, it is permitted to reschedule to any PRC/HKG to TWN flights operated by CI/AE provided that booking class remains unchanged, and the fare/tax/booking service charge differences and reissue charge including over-counter charge shall be waived once. (b) Within ticket validity, it is permitted to reschedule to SHA/PVG to TWN via HKG(non-stopover) provided that MU/CX flight from SHA/PVG to HKG is rebooked and the booking class on CI/AE HKG to TW flights is unchanged as original PVG to KHH flights. Under this circumstance, the fare/tax/booking service charge differences and reissue charge including over-counter charge shall be waived once. (c) Within ticket validity, the fare/tax differences incurred by the other changes except for Change B (a)(b) mentioned above shall be paid by passengers, and the booking service charge difference and the reissue charge including over-counter charge shall be waived once. Refund: (a) For wholly unused tickets: Full refund shall be performed without imposing any refund charge. (b) For partially used tickets: Refund charge shall be waived, and calculation of residual refund value shall be based on involuntary refund procedures. Ancillary Fee: (a) Chargeable Seat: Chargeable seat EMD shall be refunded without imposing any service charge. (b) Pre-paid excess baggage: Pre-paid excess baggage EMD shall be refunded without imposing any service charge. Group/Discount Tickets: Discount tickets do not apply to the principles above. For group tickets, please contact your travel agency. -

Important Notice for cross-strait flights entering/departing mainland China to/from Taiwan on/after 18 Nov 2022:
(1) Passengers entering mainland China from Taiwan: one negative PCR test report within 48 hours before departure is required, and the content of the report must specify the CT value >= 35. (The report must be issued by the "local testing centers in Taiwan")
(2) Passengers entering Taiwan from mainland China: one negative PCR test report within 48 hours before departure is required.
