China Airlines Unveils World’s Most Beautiful Float at National Day Celebrations
Published: Oct 08, 2017The Double Tenth Day Float will be presented in all of its glory in front of the Office of the President in Taipei City on October 10. This year will be the first time that China Airlines takes part in the national day float parade and it will be also the only airline at the celebrations. The design of the float features the latest A350 medium-to-long range passenger aircraft as its centerpiece to symbolize the continued rejuvenation of the China Airlines fleet, and the continued expansion into new routes to make Taiwan the Asian hub to the world.
This year, China Airlines embraced the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ policy focus of “Airport gateway to the nation” and chose “China Airlines leads Taiwan in full flight” as the theme. The goal is to demonstrate how China Airlines’ active efforts to expand its international network and increase the frequency of flights is now turning Taoyuan International Airport into East Asia’s next-generation hub for the flow of passengers and freight. On the parade are landmarks from European cities that China Airlines operates non-stop flights to including the Big Ben from London, the Coliseum from Rome, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and windmills from the Netherlands. The national flowers of the Netherlands (Tulip), England (Rosa Canina), and Italy (Daisy) bedecked the European style float measuring 12m long, 3.5m high and 3.6m wide. These represent how China Airlines’ new fleet is being used to operate non-stop flights to Europe that give passengers a more comfortable and relaxing journey.
The Department of Plastic Arts at Da-Yeh University was commissioned to design the float. In addition to China Airlines’ European destinations, Tianwei Township of Changhua County’s fame as the “Home of Flowers” was also incorporated through premium flora such as dendrobiums, pot mum, and flamingo flowers as well as green pot plants. The riot of colors showcased the beauty of Changhua to the nation. Eight China Airlines flight attendants on the float highlighted the spirit of customer service through their warm smiles and elegant demeanor. China Airlines will continue to engage in the pursuit of innovation and excellence, maintain the highest standards in aviation safety and service quality, and strive to ensure a perfect journey for every customer every time through a professional and passionate team.
China Airlines has participated in the Rose Parade held in the U.S. every year since 1987 and strives to create an original float design each time. This year, China Airlines is supporting the national day theme of “Better Taiwan” by partnering with Taiwan High Speed Rail, Tourism Bureau and Chunghwa Telecom to create float designs that will encourage more travelers around the world to come and explore the beauty of Taiwan.
The China Airlines National Day Float will be available for public viewing at the Nangang Exhibition Hall car park between 18:00 ~ 21:00 on October 10, and from 09:00 ~ 21:00 between October 11 ~ 15.
