A First in the Taiwanese Airline Industry! China Airlines Cargo Partners with Innovative Integrated Freight Platform to Streamline Bookings

    Published: Jun 04, 2025

China Airlines (CAL, a Taiwan-based carrier) announced that it is partnering with the cargo pricing, booking and sales platforms “WebCargo by Freightos” and “cargo.one” to provide one-stop services for capacity searching, instant pricing, and online bookings. Customers can use the platforms to find the next available cargo space that meets their requirements then make a booking directly through the convenient online booking system. The all-new cargo service is the first of its kind in the Taiwanese airline industry.

Integrated cargo pricing and booking services have already been used overseas for many years. Now, China Airlines is taking the lead by working with these two renowned international platforms “WebCargo by Freightos” and “cargo.one”. The new services set to launch on June 2 and June 10, respectively. In Phase One, the system will cover the US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands. Freight forwarders can easily search for the most suitable cargo spaces and quotation through the platforms, streamlining the booking process and enhancing overall efficiency. China Airlines will continue to expand the scope of its business collaboration with the platforms and it is highly likely that these convenient air cargo services will become available in Taiwan in the future.

China Airlines Cargo has extensive experience transporting all kinds of cargo ranging from food, clothing, accommodation, travel, education, and recreation. By joining “WebCargo by Freightos” and “cargo.one”, the carrier aims to expand its market presence through the boundless connectivity of the Internet. This strategic move will enable the airline to connect with new customer segments and cargo sources in different regions, to study customers’ booking preferences through big data, and to introduce new products that are aligned with market demand. China Airlines is optimistic that the integrated platforms will provide a steady boost and increase cargo volume by nearly one hundred tonnes a month. At the same time, personnel costs will be reduced and the overall supply chain efficiency will be improved.

China Airlines strives to maintain a stable level of cargo capacity and strengthen the overall network as part of its commitment to corporate sustainability. All ten fuel-efficient aircraft of the 777F fleet have now been delivered and combined with the eight high-capacity aircraft of 747F fleet to generate dual-model synergies. In 2024, the airline placed an additional order for four 777-8F freighters, which feature the same cargo configuration as the 777F, the carrier’s primary freighter model. The introduction of the platforms will further enhanced operational flexibility and dispatching efficiency, improve payload capability, and increase overall productivity. Data for apron operations are stored electronically on PDA mobile devices, significantly reducing paper consumption while improving loading/unloading accuracy. China Airlines will continue to strengthen its market competitiveness by delivering reliable and high-quality cargo services.
