China Airlines and NPO Compose New Boarding Video to Showcase the Beauty and Culture of Taiwan

    Published: Mar 04, 2025

China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, has partnered with non-profit organizations, Chi Po-lin Foundation and the Chin-Ai Music, to create a new boarding video that will premiere on all flights in March. The video will showcase the beauty of Formosa from the sky to travelers around the world , along with original music inspired by local Taiwanese culture. Every flight will become an opportunity for China Airlines to communicate its commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

The theme of the latest boarding video is China Airlines Takes Flight with the Seeds of Environmental Education. The video showcases China Airlines’ pioneering of passenger-carrying flights with Sustainable Aviation Fuel, ECO travel for all passenger and cargo flights, and other sustainability initiatives. Footage from the renowned documentary Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above shot by Po-lin Chi, the greatest aerial photographer of his generation, was incorporated to present the beauty of the mountains, rivers, seas, cities, and people in Taiwan. The background music for the video was composed by Chin-Ai Music, an orchestra made up of indigenous students from Chin-Ai Tribal Village deep in the Aowanda Forest of Nantou. The song Walking Among the Clouds was performed and mixed by two teachers and 16 orchestra members. The notes not only convey the natural and cultural beauty of Taiwan but also introduce the whole world to the unique sound of the indigenous homeland.

Chin-Ai Music hails from Chin-Ai Village in Nantou, the heartland of the Atayal and Sediq peoples. The orchestra founded by Pei-wen Chen and Tzu-Chien Wang is dedicated to introducing indigenous children to music. They also established the Chin-Ai Music and Art Experimental Education Institute. In addition to fostering musical and cultural exchanges, China Airlines’ latest collaboration with Chin-Ai Music represents its heartfelt support for indigenous musical education and cultural heritage. China Airlines opens the world to experience the rich music of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples and to witness its breathtaking landscape.

China Airlines is a long-time supporter of ESG and sustainability, conveying its commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility with every flight. To fulfill its corporate social responsibility, in 2011 the airline began recruiting employee volunteers to make regular visit to schools in indigenous areas to teach aviation knowledge and English. The volunteers promoted modern learning methods and cultivated the international horizons of the students. A charity pilot camp was also organized with Taiwan Fund for Children and Families. Students were invited to become a pilot for a day to explore the skies and the future.

At the same time, merchandise from the Chi Po-lin Foundation and Chin-Ai Music have been showcased by China Airlines in its eMall. The Jiading Fish Ponds Silk Scarf, Taipei 101 Mountain Breeze Graphene Bucket Hat, Mt. Jade Mug Set, In Focus Chi Po Lin Photo Album, Chin-Ai Music Illustrated Album, and Miniature Painted Violin allow travelers to support charitable causes and take the beauty of Taiwan home with them.

The mission of China Airlines is to create more wonderful moments through flying. To uphold its sustainable development philosophy of giving back to society and creating social value, China Airlines continues to promote a wide range of social charity and environmental conservation projects that include caring for disadvantaged elders and children, domestic industry-university cooperation, volunteer teaching, charity sports camp, coastal clean-up, tree planting, and adoption of the Pangolin, a protected species, at Taipei Zoo. The images of Taiwan and original music by Chin-Ai Music in the latest video not only show China Airlines’ support for Taiwan and the fulfillment of its social responsibilities under ESG, but also communicate the determination of China Airlines to use resources wisely and create sustainable value.
