The Civil Aviation Act stipulates that no passenger shall use any device that may interfere with aircraft navigation and communication systems. This policy applies to all China Airlines fleets. Violation of these regulations will result in imprisonment of up to 5 years, detention or a fine of a maximum of NT$150,000.
After cabin doors are closed, passengers should follow the broadcast instructions to set personal electronic devices including mobile phones, tablet PCs, and laptops to flight mode with Wi-Fi turned off. After the aircraft has landed and cleared the runway, crew members will notify passengers via broadcast of a time when devices can be used.
If the communication function of a personal electronic device transmitting radio waves cannot be disabled and the device cannot be switched to flight mode, it cannot be used during the flight. Such devices include remote transmitters, radio transmitters and receivers, and electronic devices that transmit messages by radio. For example, remote controls of electric toys and mobile phones other than smartphones may directly interfere with the planes' navigation, communication, and control systems.
To prevent emergency evacuation from being affected, the usage of electronic devices that cannot be put in clothes pockets or seat pockets are prohibited during takeoff and landing. Personal electronic devices such as laptops that cannot be put in clothes pockets or seat pockets must be put in the overhead or underhand seat compartments when the plane is flying at a height lower than 10,000 feet. Usage is prohibited.
When crew members are unable to confirm whether a mobile phone's communication function has been disabled or the mobile phone may interfere with the plane's systems, the passenger should follow the crew's instructions to turn it off.
If in-flight communication devices are started, you can access Wi-Fi service only after switching your devices to flight mode. Please refer to the guide for timing on use of the service and related regulations and follow the instructions of the cabin crew.
777, A350 and A321neo aircraft are equipped with “Wi-Fi Onboard” service. To keep the cabin quiet, the Wi-Fi service's voice communication and video functions have been disabled.
738, A330 aircraft are equipped with Fantasy Sky wireless entertainment system. The system provides only in-flight audio/video programs and is not able to connect to the internet. Passenger must have their own earphones for the entertainment.
When our planes are flying within foreign territories, passengers should follow the crew's instructions to shut down their personal electronic devices if the local aviation regulations so require.
No electronic cigarettes are allowed during China Airlines' flights.
Power sockets for electric razors are available in the toilet. The power sockets and USB ports in the cabin seats are suitable for personal electronic devices.
For flight safety, power banks, spare lithium batteries, and electronic devices with charging functions that cannot be turned off (such as Bluetooth earphone and charging cases) are prohibited from being checked in. They must be carried in hand luggage and properly packaged to prevent short circuits and damage. Power banks and spare lithium batteries are strictly prohibited from use and charging throughout our flights. Additionally, electronic devices with charging functions must not be charged during the entire flight. In addition, It is recommended that you do not store power banks in overhead compartments on board. (If the spare lithium batteries carried by the passenger are a Medical portable electronic device (M-PED) authorized for use by China Airlines, they are not subject to the aforementioned usage restrictions, but the spare lithium batteries must not be charged with the power supply on board.)
Each passenger is allowed to carry a maximum of two power banks.

If passengers need to carry electronic medical equipment and use it during flights due to health conditions by a qualified doctor(such as portable breathing equipment, respirator, and sputum suction device), they should prepare adequate spare batteries(1.5 times the flight time) because no power supply are available on the planes. Please notify China Airlines Reservation Center to complete the application at least two working days (excluding weekends and holidays) before the flight departure date.
Other non-life-sustaining electronic medical equipment (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) on board can be connected to an in-seat power outlet/USB port.

Which electronic devices are prohibited from being used during the flight?
Electronic cigarettes, vapor, or incense are emitted from personal humidifiers or air purifiers.
Domestic appliances, such as heaters, electric blankets, hair dryers, and electrical inverters/converters.
Citizen Band Radios.
Transmitters that remotely control devices such as toys.
Transmitting Devices.
Electronic devices, such as non-smartphones, cannot be switched to flight mode or turn off Wi-Fi or other communication functions.
Another personal electronic device may directly interfere with the plane’s navigation, communication, and control systems.
Can I charge my device with an inflight power supply during the flight?
Some aircraft are equipped with an in-seat power outlet/USB port. The aircraft outlet voltage is 110V AC with a maximum power output of 100 watts. The USB Port voltage is 5V DC with a maximum current output of 500 mA. If your device draws more than this, the electricity supply onboard will be automatically deactivated, and the power supply of the seats next to you might also be affected.
Aircraft in-seat power outlet/USB port is only for small electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and e-books, or other non-life-sustaining electronic medical devices, such as Continuous Positive Airway Pressure(CPAP), electric breast pumps, etc. Please remain constantly alert while using the in-seat power to charge your electronic devices. Should you find any abnormality, please stop charging your device and inform the cabin crew immediately.
Using an in-seat power outlet/USB port to charge power banks and spare lithium batteries during your flight is prohibited.
An electric socket in an aircraft lavatory is for electric razor use only.
Please note that inflight in-seat power outlet/USB port is not guaranteed to be available or operative on all flights and every seat. The power supply may be cut off without prior notice if it exceeds its limit or has a system malfunction. If a power supply is necessary for your portable electronic devices/non-life-sustaining electronic medical equipment, you should bring adequate spare batteries(1.5 times the flight time), which must be brought on board following China Airlines’ regulations and individually protected to prevent short circuits or damage. Additionally, they must meet the provisions in the Dangerous Goods Regulations of Air Transport.
China Airlines is not liable for any personal injury or property damage to the passenger caused by a passenger choosing to use the power supplies for portable electronic devices/non-life-sustaining electronic medical equipment by the failure of onboard power supplies or any other reason in connection therewith. Passengers use power supplies at their own risk. The equipment should comply with the regulations regarding the dimensions and weight of carry-on baggage. If a passenger's portable electronic devices cause a short circuit due to improper use or any issue with the device itself, resulting in personal injury or property damage to China Airlines, other passengers, or third parties, the passenger using the device (and their legal representative) shall be responsible for compensation.
