
China Airlines/Mandarin Airlines operated flights accept unaccompanied travel for children aged 5 to 11. Please submit your application at least 72 hours before the flight departure (excluding holidays) to facilitate processing.
Children aged 5 to 11 traveling without an adult aged 18 or older, or with an accompanying person under 18 years old, are considered Unaccompanied Minors and must apply for the service.
Business Class: Only accepts Unaccompanied Minors aged 8 to 11.
Premium Economy and Economy Classes: Accept Unaccompanied Minors aged 5 to 11.
Children aged 5-11 traveling with an adult aged 18 or older on the same flight but in a different cabin do not need to apply for Unaccompanied Minors service. Passengers must still comply with the aforementioned age limits and applicable ticket types for unaccompanied minors in each cabin.
Exception: Unaccompanied Minor service is still required if ticket itinerary including to and from Canada/Australia.
Adjustments to the charge regulations for Unaccompanied Minors (UM) on CI/AE international sectors will take effect for tickets issued on or after May 8, 2025, as follows:
Applicable Fares:
Excluding RBD L, Unaccompanied Minors must purchase an adult ticket and also apply to mileage upgrade with confirm booking (RBD - I / P) and award ticket (RBD - O / Z / X).
ID / AD / GE / RG / DM / CG discount ticket types are not applicable.
The same rule applies when minors travel with an adult in a different cabin.
Changes/Cancellation Charge: Processed according to the relevant ticket regulations.
If your itinerary involves flights operated by other airlines (KL/DL/WN, please refer to the following regulations), please be sure to check the relevant regulations with each airline.
(a) For itineraries involving 5–14-year-old passengers traveling alone that include KL (KLM Royal Dutch Airlines) flights (including codeshare flights) or DL (Delta Air Lines) / AS (Alaska Airlines) flights, due to the transfer restrictions between the two airlines, our company will not provide booking and ticketing services for this interline itinerary.
(b) For itineraries involving 5–11-year-old passengers traveling alone that include WN (Southwest Airlines) flights, due to the transfer restrictions between the two airlines, our company will not provide booking and ticketing services for this interline itinerary.
