1. If you need to use a wheelchair at the airport or in the cabin, please contact our reservation or customer service staff at least 48 hours prior to flight departure. To ensure that our service suits your actual needs, our service personnel will ask some questions, such as: Can you walk by yourself without any assistance? How far can you walk? Can you walk up and down stairs without any assistance?)
2. Passengers who have reserved wheelchairs can contact our service personnel upon arrival at the airport to get their wheelchairs. Passengers can use their own wheelchairs to reach the boarding gate.
3. Passengers who use electric wheelchairs should hand over their wheelchairs for consignment during airport check-in. China Airlines provides ordinary wheelchairs for boarding. We provide the same service at transit/destination airports.
If passengers have special requirements or considerations (for example, if you are an unaccompanied minor, disabled, aural/visual impaired, carrying seat-blocking baggage, or using a wheelchair), you are advised to complete check-in 2 hours prior to departure, so that we can have sufficient time to meet your requirements.
For visual-impaired passengers traveling alone, China Airlines will arrange staff at the destination to pick them up. If there are accompanying adult passengers, they can make reservations as ordinary passengers do.
No extra service fee will be charged.
For passengers who bring their own wheelchairs, whether they are manually or electrically driven, China Airlines will consign them free of charge. As domestic and foreign airport facilities are governed by different laws and regulations, in some destinations, your wheelchair may not be allowed to be sent from the apron to the boarding gate. In such cases, China Airlines will make it a priority to send your checked wheelchair to the baggage claim area. Upon your arrival, China Airlines will get the wheelchair ready, send it to the baggage claim area, and help you get your checked wheelchair and baggage.
