As one of the leaders in sustainability in the international airline industry, China Airlines has been a strong advocate for environmental, social and corporate governance with steady progress made towards the goal of Net Zero by 2050 through a combination of carbon reduction initiatives in the air and on the ground. These included reaching the intermediate target of SAF accounting for 0.5% of fuel purchases in 2025; implementing management measures based on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and nature-related financial disclosures (TNFD) to enhance the identification and management of climate and biodiversity risks as well as strengthen adaptation on related issues; and participating in international carbon control mechanisms such as the ICAO Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). At the same time, the fleet is going through an ongoing modernization program with the introduction of more fuel-efficient next-generation aircraft. The spirit of corporate sustainability is therefore being embraced at every operational level.
Guided by the mission of creating more wonderful moments through flying, and with Leading Asia-Pacific, Flying Worldwide as its vision, China Airlines continues to optimize its fleet operations, refine its safety management, and optimize its services. The airline also engages in philanthropic activities such as coastal clean-ups, caring for elders, volunteer teaching sessions and other charitable initiatives. Together, these cover the full spectrum of corporate governance, environmental protection, and social welfare. This year, the CAL Group also donated TWD 10 million to relief efforts after Typhoon Danas, transported disaster relief supplies to Myanmar and Thailand for free, and hosted 19 charity events in fulfillment of its corporate social responsibility.
The sustainability performance of China Airlines has attracted repeated international recognition. This includes being selected as a constituent stock of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) - Emerging Market for the eighth consecutive year; being named the HR Asia Best Company to Work for in Asia for the third consecutive year; being chosen as a constituent stock of the FTSE4Good Index Series for the tenth time; and being ranked in the top 5% of the global airline industry in the Sustainability Yearbook 2025 published by the international sustainability rating body S&P Global. China Airlines was also the only transportation company in Taiwan to make the cut on eight occasions.
China Airlines will continue to build a sustainable and eco-friendly flying experience for travelers from around the world, to strengthen sustainable competitiveness of air transport, and to work with the global industry to realize the goal of Net Zero by 2050. (2025/11/26)
