    Canadian Tariff with ATPCO

    Accessible Transportation for Person with Disabilities Regulations. (ATPDR)

    According to CTA’s ATPDR, passengers with disabilities will be provided with the following services when traveling on flights to/from Canada operated by China Airlines starting from 25Jun2020.

    • Service dog: Passengers travelling with service dogs have to complete the application with medical certificates at least 48 hours (2 business days) before departure. We will provide the suitable place for said passengers and their service dogs during the flight. Passengers are permitted to use any washrooms in the flight.

    • On-board Entertainment: Passengers with visual/hearing impairment could seek assistance from our flight attendants when needed.

    • Curbside Assistance: We will help passengers with disabilities get from the check-in point to their on-board seats. After passengers have disembarked at a terminal, we offer assistance to reach a specific place where terminal staff could help them get to the curbside zone.

    • Severe Allergies: Passengers with severe allergies should file the application with the medical certificate at least 48 hours (2 business days) before departure. The priority boarding and buffer zone where the allergen is mitigated are offered, but allergy-free environment is not guaranteed. We will notify the other passengers whose seats are immediately adjacent to each other without identifying the passengers with allergies and avoid consuming products that could trigger an allergic reaction. The buffer zone does not apply to “pod” seats. Passengers could pay for an extra seat whenever the empty seat next to them is needed.

    Assignment of Seats to Children under the Age of 14 Years

    According to Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) APPR, for passengers who are travelling on China Airlines operated flights to/from Canada, China Airlines will strive to seat children under age of 14 near their parent, guardian or tutor at no extra charge.

    • To avoid limited seats on the day of travel, we recommend you to select seats as soon as you purchase your ticket. Please contact China Airlines Reservations/Ticketing Centers. We will strive to seat children with one accompanying adult at no extra charge. Be sure to book children with you in the same reservation or do cross-reference in different record.

    • The free seat arrangement as mentioned above is solely applicable for seating in "Standard Seat". If you are intended to select any other types of seats, you may consider paying the pre-seat selection fee to choose seat to suit you and your family members’ preference, or consider purchasing a ticket with fare family product that allows you to select seat free of charge. To serve as an alternative of free seat selection, if the child is traveling with Paragon or Emerald members, the applicable Paragon members can invite up to two companions or Emerald members can invite one companion to enjoy free seat selection respectively. Seat selection fee waiver for aforementioned companion is available for "Preferred Seat" or "Standard Seat".

    • The proximity requirement depends on the age of the child, as follows. Seat assignments will be appointed by China Airlines for passengers who had seat selection fee waived.

      • under the age of 5: in a seat directly adjacent to the accompanying adult
      • aged 5 to 11: in the same row and separated by no more than one seat from the accompanying adult
      • aged 12 or 13: separated by no more than a row from the accompanying adult
    • If it is not possible to arrange a proximity seat when you contact our reservations centers, we will make every effort to facilitate seat assignment at the time of check-in, at the boarding gate or before take-off. However, it is possible that there are limited seats to arrange it when it is close to or on the day of travel. You may contact China Airlines Reservations/Ticketing Centers to change your booking to another flight on which we can provide proximity seating, or cancel your trip. In this scenario, change/refund fee will be waived.
