China Airlines has implemented Fare Family products on all international itineraries. You will be able to choose your own Fare Family products according to your needs for each trip, and fly however you want! From the Fare Family introduction below, you can select products suitable for you.

Fare Family products are only applicable to international flights marketed by China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines. Fare rules governed under each individual fare family will be adjusted to align with the effectiveness of new fare family.

Note -

For ex-Europe Business Class and Premium Economy Class standard fare family (Booking class C and A), the reissue service charge is free of charge. In addition to this exception of reissue service charge, the above listed attributes of each Fare Family may be varied by routes. CI reserves the right to adjust these attributes at any time at our sole discretion.
If your itinerary includes Air Canada (AC) as the first carrier at the beginning your journey, the regulation of free baggage allowance is currently two pieces for business travels(32KG/piece)and one piece for economy class travels(23KG/piece). The baggage rules/excess baggage rates of Air Canada(AC) should be applied for the entire journey on the same ticket.

Seat Selection

Depending on the Fare Family that you have chosen, you can pre-select your seat for free or at a small fee.

● Introduction to the Seat Selection Service

Business Cabin: free of charge.
Premium Economy Cabin: For "Flex" or "Standard" product, seat selection is free. Passengers who purchased "Basic" products will be able to select seats for a small fee on the official website or the app, or select seats for free via Online Check-in 48 hours before flight departure.
Economy Cabin:
Three seat types are available for seat selection: (please refer to the seat map)

A. Extra Comfort Seat: These seats are available for purchase by all passengers who have purchased an economy class fare. Some of these seats are located at emergency exits, and according to civil aviation regulations and flight safety reasons, you must meet specific criteria to occupy these seats. Please carefully read the conditions for occupying emergency exit seats before purchasing. Some areas are designated as emergency evacuation passages, and some are used as transit passages. According to aviation regulations, it is not possible to provide signs prohibiting passage.
Please read the information for emergency exit seats before making your choice.

B. Preferred Seat: This type of seats are located in the front rows of Economy cabin. We understand that you are eager to begin your long-awaited trip, now you will be able to start your journey with only a small additional cost.
You can purchase "Flex" product and choose Preferred Seat for free, or you can choose Preferred Seat for free via Online Check-in 12 hours before flight departure.

C. Standard Seat: Seats other than Extra Comfort Seat and Preferred Seat are Standard Seat.
Passengers who purchased "Flex" or "Standard" product may choose Standard Seat for free. If you purchase "Basic" or "Discount" product, you will still be able to choose Standard Seat with a small additional cost. Of course, you can also select seats for free via Online Check-in within 48 hours before flight departure.

How to Pre-Select a Seat?
- Chargeable seat will be available for sale on China Airlines official website / China Airlines APP(from 360 days to 50 hours prior to the flight schedule departure), and China Airlines’ Customer Service Center or ticketing counter worldwide.
- Seat selection for one of the accompanying passengers with infant and have reserved/booked a bassinet* , or wheel chair passenger (Wheel Chair for Cabin Seat, WCHC) can be free of charge. In this situation, please contact China Airlines Customer Service Center or any local branch office directly, and we will be glad to help you with the arrangements.
Changing the Paid Seat Selection
- The seat selection fee is not transferable.
- China Airlines' official website and mobile app provide passengers with the option to change their seats within 48 hours before flight departure. If there is any need to change seats during other times, please contact our Customer Service Center or local branch office counters, and we will help you with the arrangements.
- If you change the departure date or flight, you will be required to pay again to pre-select the chargeable seat based on the availability of the new flight. The seat selection fee of the original flight can be refunded free of charge.
- If you change to another chargeable seat on the same flight, please pay the new seat selection first, and the original seat selection fee will be refunded to you free of charge.

Refund of Seat Selection Fee

Seat Selection Fee is not refundable, except for "Involuntary reasons" "The associated ticket is refunded" or "Duplicated payment of itinerary & seat change"

1. Involuntary reasons

• Passenger changes seat, cancels or changes his/her reservation due to his/her China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines flight encounters aircraft type change, delay（more than 2 hours） or flight cancellation.
• Seat selection has to be changed because subject passenger does not meet our emergency exit seat requirements.
• Miss connection to flights operated by China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines due to delay or cancellation from a previous China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines flight or other Airlines, and was unable to use the pre-selected seat.

2. The associated ticket is refunded

Seat selection fees can be refunded with refund of the ticket.

3. Duplicated payment of itinerary & seat change

Duplicated payment of itinerary and/or seat change is refundable. However, it’s not refundable if the new seat is free of charge.

Refund requests due to "Involuntary reasons" or "The associated ticket is refunded" or “Duplicated payment of itinerary & seat change" will be processed on China Airlines official website, or, by China Airlines’ branch office within 2 years from the date of purchase.

4. In case of passengers who voluntarily pay to higher cabin or use mileage upgrade:

The original chargeable seat fee can be refunded in full amount Please contact China Airlines local branch office within 2 years from the date of purchase.

Terms and Conditions
- To be eligible for this service, passenger must hold valid ticket issued by either China Airlines (297) or Mandarin Airlines (803), and travel on China Airlines (CI)/Mandarin Airlines (AE) self-operated flights, or designated code-share flights operated jointly by CI & AE.
- Whether it's a need-to-pay seat or not, seats offered for advance selection are subject to availability at the time of request.
- Passenger may pay to choose his/her preferred seat in the flight, or, to be arranged a seat for free through online check-in, mobile check-in, or at the check-in counter at the airport (Extra Comfort Seat will not be offered). However, sitting next to each other/one another for passengers travelling together will subject to seat availability.
- Whether the selected seat is a chargeable seat or not, you are required to complete your check-in process 60 minutes prior to flight departure. Failing to complete your check-in process in time will lead to the cancellation of advanced seat selection. And the pre-paid seat selection fee will not be refunded.
- To comply with Civil Aviation Regulation and to ensure aviation safety, passenger choosing the emergency exit seat must read our "information for emergency exit seats" carefully and make sure that he/she agrees with and is qualified to the terms and conditions stipulated in the Regulations. Also, this passenger must collect the boarding pass at the airport check-in counter so as to be visually verified the compliance of the corresponding regulations. If the passenger does not meet the requirements, then he/she will be re-assigned to another seat and the pre-paid seat selection fee will be refunded.
- China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines reserve the right to assign or reallocate seats at any time due to operational requirements or safety reasons.
- Group bookings are assigned seats. Emerald & Paragon member with group booking may contact customer service center or branch office for further assistance.
- Chargeable seats are to be used only with the associated ticket and not transferable to other passengers or flights.
- Sales deadline for Chargeable seat product are as follows:
  - Standard Seat for Premium Economy Class and Economy Class: Available for sale till 48 hours prior to departure.
  - Preferred Seat: Available for sale till 12 hours prior to departure.
  - Extra Comfort Seat: No limit (May purchase In-Flight).*
  
  * Note: Flights departing from Amsterdam / China (Ningbo, Wuxi) to Taipei may purchase Chargeable Seat via online till 48 hours prior to flight departure. Passenger would need to purchase Extra Comfort Seat from cabin crew in flight when sales time reach within 48 hours of flight departure.
Benefit of Frequent Flyer
- Paragon and Emerald members may enjoy the privilege of free seat selection, including all 3 chargeable seat types: Standard, Preferred, and Extra Comfort.
- Paragon members can invite up to two companions and Emerald members can invite one companion to enjoy free seat selection respectively. Guidelines are as below:
  - Paragon members can invite up to two companions to enjoy free seat selection for Standard, Preferred, and Extra Comfort seat.
  - Emerald member can invite one companion to enjoy free seat selection for Standard, Preferred seat.
  - Please contact China Airlines call centers or branch offices for application from the next day of ticket issuance. China Airlines official website and airport counters, In-flight are not available for this service.
  - Companion(s) should be in the same reservation record with Paragon and Emerald members, and tickets should be issued for both parties.
  - Companion(s) holding group tickets (G Class) or tickets issued by other airlines (except Mandarin Airlines tickets) is not eligible for this service.
  - The above mentioned restrictions will not be applicable for companion whose ticket is eligible for free seat selection, or if the companion is willing to choose a seat with charges.
  - If you are a companion of Paragon members and qualify for aforementioned free seat selection, Extra Comfort seat selection fee paid on/before February 5th, 2023 can be refunded. Please contact China Airlines call centers or branch offices for refund.
- Using Mileage to purchase Chargeable seat is not supported at this time.
- Award ticket or upgrade with miles and its booking code with (O/I) may select seat for free, and booking code with (Z/X/P) may select "Standard" seats free of charge.
- The Dynasty Flyer membership tier at the time of the seat selection will determine whether a passenger needs to pay for seat selection or not.Dynasty/Gold card members have paid for seat selection, but were then upgraded to Gold/Emerald members before relevant flight departure and can select seats for free, the original chargeable seat fee could be refunded in full amount. Please contact China Airlines call centers or branch offices for refund.
- After ticket is purchased, please visit web site MANAGE-Seat /Special Assistance, or log in Member service - Travel Services-Booking Records to select seat online. Seat selection is available via Online Check-in 48 hours before flight departure.
In-flight Chargeable Seat Service
- Only Extra Comfort Seats are available for sale In-Flight.
- For in-flight service quality and flight safety concern, passengers may not change their seat after boarding. If a passenger wishes to use "Extra Comfort Seat", please contact cabin crew for assistance/purchase.
- Because some of the Extra Comfort Seats are next to emergency exit, to comply with Civil Aviation Law and to ensure aviation safety, China Airlines reserves the right not to offer these Emergency Exit seats to passenger who does not meet the Emergency exit seating requirements.
- The in-flight chargeable seat purchase is limited to "Extra Comfort Seat" only, and is sold on segment basis. If a passenger’s itinerary includes a stopover airport (e.g. Taipei - Brisbane - Auckland, Brisbane is a stopover airport), this Taipei-Auckland passenger could only purchase the seat for the first segment (Taipei - Brisbane). Depending on the seating assigned and booking status, cabin crew will assist passenger with another Extra comfort seat over Brisbane-Auckland, if available. If not, passenger is required to sit back to the original seat assigned at check-in without refund.
- Once in flight, Chargeable seat may only be purchased by Credit card.
- China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines reserve the right to assign or reallocate seats at any time due to operational and US DOT382 requirements or safety reasons.

Mileage Accrual

1. To encourage members to experience the service of our Premium Business Class, Business Class, and Premium Economy Class, as well as to enable quicker and easier membership upgrade and renewal, based on different Fare Family, we have increased China Airlines/Mandarin Airlines mileage accrual and weighted trip for flights travelling.

If you are our Gold/Emerald/Paragon card member, you will be able to receive an extra 15%, 25%, 30% incentive of flown mileage as miles respectively. We welcome you to fly with us to get more miles!

No-Show Fee

For tickets issued on/before 2023/10/31, if the passenger did not cancel the reservation before the flight took off and eventually fails to board the flight, or for tickets issued on/after 2023/11/01, if the passenger did not cancel the reservation 3 hours before the flight took off, and eventually fails to board the flight, No-Show fee will be imposed and paid by the passenger in accordance with the fare rule of each ticket before being allowed to take subsequent action of date change or refund on the ticket.

A: After you complete the payment for the seat selection service online, you will receive an Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD) invoice in your email, which is the proof of payment.

Q: If I have not received confirmation mail after completing the payment for seat selection online, who should I speak to?

A: Please contact our Customer Service Center or any local branch office counters.

Q: Is there an expiration date for the EMD that was issued for the seat selection payment?

A: EMD is the proof of payment. The seat selection service is only applicable for the originally purchased date and flight.

Q: After paying for a seat selection, if I cannot travel due to other circumstances, can I transfer seat selection to my friends and family?

A: The Seat selection is not transferable to other customers.

Q: Can I change my seat after seat selection payment has been completed?

A: The seat selection service is only applicable for the originally purchased date and flight. If you need to change the departure date or flight, you will be required to pay again for seat selection based on the sales status of the flight. The seat selection fee of the original flight can be refunded free of charge.

Q: What must I do if I would like to change to another seat after I have paid for seat selection?

A: If you would like to change to another paid seat, please pay the fee of the new seat first, and the original seat selection fee will be refunded to you free of charge. But if you change to a free seat, the original fee will not be refunded.

Q: If my flight itinerary has changed, what must I do to re-select the seat? Can I get a refund for the seat selection fee of my original flight?
