China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, has now joined forces with WENWEN, the wildly popular Taiwanese restaurant in the Unites States to bring its creative Taiwanese cuisine to onboard dining. From October onwards, travelers in all cabin classes on flights departing from Los Angeles and Ontario (United States) to Taoyuan will have the opportunity to savor a creative spin on the flavors of Taiwan.
WENWEN is a Michelin-recommended Taiwanese restaurant in Brooklyn, New York, that infuses fine dining with bold creativity and a festive atmosphere. Eric Sze, the founder and head chef, combines traditional Taiwanese cuisine with contemporary dining culture to create a distinctive Nouveau Taiwanese cuisine that is a favorite among Taiwanese looking for a taste of home. WENWEN’s cuisine has also won over the taste buds of America's diverse ethnic groups and international gourmands.
Thanks to the latest collaboration between China Airlines and WENWEN travelers can now have a taste of classic Taiwanese dishes even before touching down in Taiwan. The main course in Economy Class is Lo Ba Beng, the king of Taiwanese street food. Pork belly braised in soy-based sauce is drizzled on white rice and served with soy-marinated egg for a mouth-watering treat. Other mains such as Peeled Pepper Chicken Thigh with Scallion and Ginger Rice, Beef Fat Chili Oil Guan-Miao Noodles, and Huadiao Egg Tofu over Fried Rice will be progressively introduced on a seasonal basis.
In Premium Economy Class, the main course, Surf and Turf Youfan with Seared Pork Belly and Prawn, is comforting, succulent stir-fried rice with mushrooms and soy sauce. Fresh shrimp and pork belly are then added to create that classic taste that families in Taiwan know and love. Other creative Taiwanese mains include Braised Beef Patty Rice with Cheese, Grilled Short Rib Guan-Miao Noodles, and Braised Pork Belly Rice with Taro Purée. For Premium Business Class, the Mapo Sweet Potato Mochi Gnocchi snack uses sweet potato to produce a mochi-like texture, and is served with Mapo sauce to captivate the senses; its alternative will be Cheesy Braised Tofu Ramen featuring Western-style cheese in Asian-style noodles. The fusion of braised soy sauce and milk creates an unforgettable sensory experience.
Through collaborations with well-known restaurants in Taiwan and abroad, China Airlines is actively expanding its onboard dining portfolio to create fresh, new feasts featuring classic cuisine. The menu on flights departing from Taiwan continue to be updated through collaborations with popular restaurant brands such as Da Wan Yakiniku, T+T, Little Tree Food, and Moon Moon Food. Desserts and beverages now also feature contributions from Le Ruban Pâtisserie, Aunt Stella, TenRen Tea, US-based Peet's Coffee, and cocktails by BLAH BLAH Bar. Travelers can enjoy fresh new experience filled with variety on every trip! (2026/09/23)
