Today (4/21) China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, announced that the online registration for the 2026 CI Marathon - Starry Night Run is now open. The anticipated racing event will be off to a blazing start at the Dajia River Park in Taipei on October 31 (Saturday). The three main divisions this year are the Half-Marathon (21K) division, the Run for Health (10K) division, and the Family Starlight (6K) division. The theme, A Carnival for the Family, has been chosen for the road race. Combining family sports, an outdoor market, a starlight concert, and charity partnerships, families are invited to join hands and run their way into the CI Marathon. Only a limited number of spots are available, so runners should register right away.
Chairman Kao, Shing-Hwang presided over the opening of the registration ceremony for the third CI Marathon - Starry Night Run. Chief Secretary, Tourism Administration of MOTC, Ben Huang, Commissioner, Department of Sports of Taipei City Government, Yu Zhu-Ping, and Deputy Commissioner, Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government, Shiue Chiu-Huo and other guests were in attendance to witness the launch of this event filled with wellness, joy, and music. Athletes sponsored by China Airlines, including ultra-marathon runner Tommy Chen and founder of Rising Star Gymnastics Larisa Bakurova, as well as Amy Yang, CEO of Retail Banking from CTBC Bank, the event's primary sponsor, and General Manager Meggie from BROOKS, the Marathon's official footwear brand, were also in attendance on the day.
As a longstanding advocate for corporate sustainability, this year's race once again includes a Charity Division with para runners and their guides invited to register for free. There is also a Sustainable Athlete Division that offers runners discounts on their registration fee for foregoing single-use items such as souvenir clothing and towels in the interest of waste reduction. The race finish gift including the souvenir clothing, vest and other accessories will be made from eco-friendly materials to give participants a greater appreciation of China Airlines' commitment to sustainable sports.
To encourage the public to participate in the wellness festival, all Dynasty Flyer members that register for the Half-Marathon division will receive 2,100 miles upon finishing, 1,000 miles upon finishing for the Run for Health division, and 600 miles upon finishing for the Family Starlight division. A 20% discount will also apply if the registration fee is paid with the CTBC-China Airlines co-branded Priority Infinity Business Card, 15% discount if paid with the CTBC-China Airlines co-branded card, and 10% off for all CTBC card holders. Every runner that finishes their race will go into the draw for tickets and membership miles. There are more than 60 great prizes up for grabs including Premium Business and Premium Economy return air fares on long-haul routes, and 10,000 Dynasty Flyer miles.
This year's marathon will once again feature the CI Marathon Brand Boot Camp headed by the well-known running coach Hsu Kuo-Feng. Systematic classroom and practical training will commence in August to help runners of different ability levels develop their own training plan. The training will ensure that every runner will be in peak condition when they step up to the starting line and take part in the October sports carnival. (2026/04/21)
