China Airlines was today (11/24) presented with four “2015 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA)" including a gold medal in the transportation industry category of The Taiwan Top 50 Corporate Sustainability Report Awards, the Growth through Innovation Award, the Climate Leadership Award and the Creativity in Communication Award. The awards were accepted by President Yu-Hern Chang on behalf of China Airlines. The successes of China Airlines in the TCSA for two consecutive years represent the judges’ recognition of the company’s corporate sustainability practices.
TCSA is organized by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) to encourage local companies to publish corporate sustainability reports. A total of 112 companies have taken part so far. China Airlines became the first airline to publish a corporate sustainability report in 2014, also establishing a CSR website; this was followed by the publication of its second report in 2015 centered around the four aspects of “improved safety management, creating a friendly environment, safeguarding of employees’ welfare, and investment in corporate citizenship".
“Commitment to Excellence and Reliability" is the corporate vision of China Airlines. A number of related events have been held this year including inviting disadvantaged students to a New Year Party, supporting the charity events of the Children Are Us Foundation, and organizing the Zhuwei Fishing Harbor beach clean-up drive. Flight attendants, pilots and ground personnel also volunteer in their spare time for the “Dream Flight" program. Students are introduced to aviation facilities and taken on tours to encourage them to never stop chasing their dreams. With sustainability as a mission and “Customers, Shareholders, Employees, Partners, Society and the Environment" as key considerations, China Airlines seeks to partner with stakeholders in the pursuit of sustainability and mutual prosperity.
Apart from the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards, China Airlines this year also received the 2014 Golden Flyer Award from the Civil Aeronautics Administration, “Distinguished Enterprise Innovation Award" at the 4th National Industry Innovation Awards, Gold Trusted Brand Award from Reader’s Digest, and also the top “Enterprise Environmental Protection Award" from the Environmental Protection Administration for the third consecutive year. China Airlines will continue to promote sustainable business practices. (2015/11/24)
