China Airlines to Begin Flying New 777 on Frankfurt Route in November

Published: Nov 12, 2015

China Airlines will begin flying its new 777-300ER aircraft on the Taipei-Frankfurt route. This will be the first European destination to be served by NexGen passenger aircraft following the introduction on long-haul routes to Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. The cabin design based around a fusion of eastern aesthetics with modern technology will provide travelers on the Frankfurt route with a novel mid-air experience. It will also promote business, cultural and tourism exchanges between Taiwan and Europe.

The China Airlines NexGen 777-300ER passenger aircraft made its first European appearance in June this year when China Airlines was invited by Boeing to attend the “Paris International Air Show", the biggest air show in the world. From the cabin fittings to the onboard supplies, the aircraft showcased Taiwan’s cultural creativity at the world’s most popular air show. Passengers traveling to Europe will now be able to fly aboard China Airlines’ 777 and experience the innovative NexGen design for themselves.

NexGen aesthetics have won numerous international accolades to date. The 777 Premium Business Class seat was presented with the “Best of the Best" award at the world-renowned Red Dot Award in Germany; TheDesignAir, the international aviation design review guide, awarded China Airlines second place in its “Top 10 Passengers’ Choice Airline Brands" for 2015. China Airlines also placed tenth in the Top 10 Business Classes and seventh in the Top 10 Economy Classes categories.

The 777 passenger aircraft offer three cabin classes with 40 seats in Premium Business Class, 62 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 256 seats in Economy Class which also features Family Couches. Total seating capacity is 358 people. Flight time from Taipei to Frankfurt is approximately 14 hours. During the flight, mood lighting can be used to create different cabin ambiences to help make long-haul flights as comfortable as being at home; Premium Business Class features the world’s first persimmon wood grain fittings and 180-degree fully flat seats. The seats’ ergonomic padding and total length of 78" (198cm) is fit for First Class. China Airlines has taken the bold step of raising the ceiling to install a Sky Lounge that brings together the culinary cultures of the West and East. This added refinement to travel transforms the experience of flying.

In Premium Economy Class rows are now 39 inches apart and the fixed backshell of seats means no disturbance from the seat in front during long journeys. This, along with industry-leading 12" extra-large displays, enables passengers to enjoy their spacious seating.

To celebrate the introduction of the new 777-300ER aircraft on the Frankfurt route, a variety of promotional offers is now available from China Airlines. From now until the end of December, Dynasty Flyer members who purchase and fly Taipei-Frankfurt Premium Economy Class return air fares will receive 3,777 bonus miles; Taipei-Frankfurt Economy Class return air travelers departing before January 31, 2016, can redeem 14,777 miles to upgrade to Premium Economy Class on one leg; those participating in Dynasty packages and booking Premium Economy Class return air fares from now until January 20, 2016, can enjoy a half-price upgrade.

In a separate offer, those who purchase Family Couch on 777 aircraft flying the Frankfurt / Los Angeles / San Francisco / New York routes before November 30 can enjoy a discounted price (one-way) of TWD 3,600 / 3 people, TWD 9,000 / 2 people, or TWD 18,000 / one person. Families, couples and friends traveling together or by themselves will be able to convert their seats into a comfortable sofa bed. Experience the brand new service from China Airlines through these great offers.

China Airlines destinations in Europe include Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Vienna and Rome. Codeshare flights are available through fellow SkyTeam members such as KLM, Aitalia, and Czech Airlines with connecting flights to Prague, London and Manchester, forming a comprehensive flight network. Starting in the third quarter of next year, China Airlines will begin taking delivery of the 14 A350-900 passenger aircraft it has on order. The new aircraft is slated to take over long-haul European routes such as Amsterdam and Vienna. China Airlines will continue the NexGen cabin brand philosophy by combining culture with technology and their demonstration of next-generation innovation, youthfulness and fashion will provide passengers with a more comfortable journey.
