China Airlines Wins Triple Crown in Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey

Published: Dec 09, 2015

China Airlines was named “Best Airline in North Asia” for the third consecutive year at the award ceremony for the “12th Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey Awards” held today (12/8) by Global Traveler magazine. The NexGen fleet also took the honors for “Best Business Class Seat Design” and “Best Flight Attendant Uniforms”. This triple crown is a testament to the recognition of the airline by international business travelers.

The 12th Tested Reader Survey ran with Global Traveler readers voting on leading candidates in more than 70 travel industry-related categories. Most Global Traveler readers are entrepreneurs and executives who on average fly regional routes more than 13 times and international routes more than 9 times a year.

Mr. Simon H. K. Lee, CAL Vice President for the Americas, said that readers of Global Traveler are frequent travelers with a keen eye for detail. From the cabin of the 777 cabin to the NexGen uniform design revealed in June this year, China Airlines has demonstrated how to blend Asian aesthetics and traditional elements with modern technology. The support and recognition of consumers and this business travel magazine represent a great honor for China Airlines and is proof that the airline’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. China Airlines will continue to uphold its spirit of innovation and strive to provide passengers with an even more comfortable and diversified aviation service.

The NexGen product design of China Airlines has garnered many awards. On the international front, in addition to the Outstanding Innovations achievement at the U.S. Global Traveler Travel Leisure Awards for the 777 Family Couch at the start of the year, China Airlines also received “Best of the Best" and “Winner” awards at the Red Dot Design Awards in Germany, a silver award from the 2015 A’Design Award & Competition in Italy, 2015 Good Design Award from Japan, No. 8 in Skytrax’s World’s Best Premium Economy Class Airlines, as well as inclusion in the Top 10 Airport Lounges, No. 2 in the “Passenger’s Choice” Airline Brands, Best Premium Business Class and Best Economy Class by TheDesignAir for 2015. Domestic awards included the Best Design Award at Golden Pin, the top design award of the international Chinese-speaking community; the “Distinguished Enterprise Innovation Award” from the Ministry of Economic Affairs’, “National Industry Innovation Award”, “Taiwan International Creative Design Competition - Distinction”, and “Taiwan Interior Design Award (TID) - Judges’ Special Award” from the Chinese Society of Interior Designers.
The all-new 777 NexGen fleet is currently flying on North American routes and to Frankfurt. It features original persimmon wood-grain finish as the main cabin motif combined with mood lighting to create a unique sense of space; the Economy Class is equipped with Family Couches, a first in Asia, where the seats can be converted into sofa beds; the Sky Lounge brings together Western and Eastern culinary traditions to provide passengers with a place to rest.

China Airlines will begin taking delivery of 14 A350-900 passenger aircraft in 2016. The new aircraft will be assigned to long-distance European and North American routes such as Amsterdam, Vienna, Rome, Vancouver and Hawaii. They will carry on the NexGen spirit of China Airlines by crafting a personalized flying space for travelers, capturing the startling cultural creativity of Taiwan and redefine the meaning of traveling in style.
