Vaccination Drive at China Airlines Makes for a Happy Company

Published: Nov 08, 2016

A “Vaccination for All” publicity event was hosted by China Airlines at the Songshan campus in Taipei today (11/08) in response to the influenza season. Jen-hsiang Chuang, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Centers for Disease Control, and Ding-cheng Chan, Director of National Taiwan University Hospital's Zhudong Branch, were invited to attend the event during which they emphasized the importance of flu vaccination in employee care as well as the contribution it makes to global quarantine efforts and passenger health.

As a member of the transport industry, China Airlines plays an important role in the global effort to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The airline also aims to be a happy company. For the first time this year, China Airlines partnered with the Zhudong Branch of National Taiwan University Hospital to offer employees free flu vaccines in October and November. Nearly one thousand employees signed up for the vaccination. China Airlines was also recognized with a "2016 Quarantine Excellence Award " as a healthy workplace that encourages employees to protect themselves and their families through flu vaccination.

Since 2003, China Airlines has organized internal flu vaccination programs every year, increased awareness on employee benefits and health education, while also striving to provide passengers with a safe, healthy and comfortable traveling environment. Everything possible is done to strengthen quarantine efforts. Apart from actively cooperating with government quarantine initiatives and policies, China Airlines has also produced its own quarantine training videos, released regular bulletins on domestic and overseas quarantine management information, issued advisories for business travelers, provided in-flight quarantine supplies, set up an employee health promotion website and quarantine mailbox, and regularly hosted quarantine awareness events.

China Airlines has set up a dedicated medical department to ensure proper care and promotion of employee health. Over the years, the department has helped monitor local and overseas quarantine information, pioneered flu vaccinations for all employees, and arranged free 3-in-1 measles shots for front-line employees. Due to the nature of rotating shifts, vaccinations are provided at company sites as well as medical clinics. China Airlines works actively to carry out the government's quarantine policy and provide all employees with comprehensive health protection. (2016/11/08)
