2016 China Airlines x Jeremey Lin Dreams Come True Charity Day – Liveried Aircraft Experience

Published: Jun 14, 2016

The “2016 China Airlines Dreams Come True Charity Day” was hosted by China Airlines at its maintenance facility today (6/14) and American NBA star point guard Jeremy Lin was invited to be the special guest. During the event, Lin met with children from Taoyuan City’s elementary schools aboard China Airlines’ latest 777 Boeing liveried aircraft. The event not only helped cultivate children’s interest in English using learning through play but also helped them fulfill the dream of boarding a plane.

This year marked the fourth time since 2013 that China Airlines has partnered with Jeremy Lin for charity events. For the first time, the passenger cabin was chosen as the venue for meeting with 83 students from Taoyuan City’s Xihai elementary school, Sanfeng elementary school, Zhuwei elementary school and Haihu elementary school. Jeremy Lin taught everyone about common English words used when traveling by air and followed the cues given by the in-flight safety demonstration video in putting on a life vest. Finally, he taught the children how to order their in-flight meal in English. A fun and relaxed environment was therefore created for learning English and aviation safety knowledge. Everyone found the experience of boarding a plane and enjoying an in-flight meal to be quite a novelty. At the end of the event, every child also received a China Airlines-Boeing co-branded 777 liveried aircraft model, Jeremy Lin card and headband.

Since the delivery of the first China Airlines-Boeing co-branded 777 liveried aircraft on May 16, its unique aircraft livery has won both international and domestic acclaim. The awards won by China Airlines 777-300ER aircraft in past years were also put on display during the event. By planting a love for aviation and international perspective in the children’s hearts, this will hopefully help them succeed in their future studies. At the same time, Jeremy Lin’s support for charitable causes will hopefully encourage society to take a greater interest in young children and help them in tangible ways to find a better future.

Employees from China Airlines launched a volunteering group on their own initiative in 2011. Apart from visiting local schools in Taoyuan City every month (except during summer and winter breaks) to teach aviation English and share flying know-how with children of all years, their other charitable initiatives have also won the praise of the local community. The China Airlines social welfare vision is to help the disadvantaged, cultivate national talent, cultivate emerging athletes, and promote local Taiwanese brands. The vision has subsequently developed into the six missions: Grassroots education, charity assistance, tourism promotion, caring for the disadvantaged, protecting the planet, and supporting the sports. In the future, China Airlines will continue to promote a wide variety of charity events in order to make a tangible contribution to society.
