In the results of the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) announced on November 22, China Airlines won a total of four awards due to its eye-catching performance in the corporate sustainability report and corporate sustainability performance categories. China Airlines has now won the TOP 50 Platinum Award and Climate Leadership Award for five years in a row, as well as the Social Inclusion Award for the second consecutive year. The first English Reportage Award, added this year was also won by the carrier on its first attempt. All of the awards were accepted by Vice President I-ko Chen on behalf of China Airlines.

China Airlines leads the domestic aviation industry to the extent of its environmental management coverage as well as environmental and energy risk management systems. In addition to continuing to strengthen corporate initiatives for mitigating and responding to climate change every year, China Airlines also became the first carrier in Taiwan to trial sustainable alternative fuels and spearheaded the push by the CAL Group to obtain the very first international aviation ISO 14067 certificate and carbon label. China Airlines is also a corporate citizen with a mission of creating social value. Key initiatives include hosting aviation camps to cultivate a passion for flying, spreading the seeds of aviation through grassroots education, promoting environmental protection and building of a clean flying environment, caring for seniors and disadvantaged groups, support of sports and boosting the international profile of Taiwan.

As the role-model for sustainability in Taiwan’s aviation industry, China Airlines understands the importance of corporate social responsibility and spares no effort when it comes to promoting corporate governance, environmental sustainability and social prosperity. In addition to the TCSA, China Airlines has been recognized in a number of domestic and overseas assessments including the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index (DJSI) three times, as well as being selected for the FTSE4Good Emerging Index, Taiwan Sustainability Index, Taiwan High Compensation 100 Index (Taiwan HC 100), and Taiwan Employment 99 Index. To provide travelers with a safe and high-quality flying experience, China Airlines recently passed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) for the eighth time. When the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) included foreign carriers in its 2016/2017 passenger satisfaction survey results for the first time, China Airlines demonstrated its popularity with travelers by taking top honors in the Consumer Protection category.

In the future, China Airlines will continue to listen to stakeholders and fulfill its corporate social responsibilities. China Airlines will provide passengers with the best and most dependable services by upholding the mission of “creating more wonderful moments through flying” and embracing its vision of “becoming the preferred airline in Taiwan.” (2018/11/22)
