China Airlines Offers Most Frequent Services to Kyushu with Launch of New Taipei-Kumamoto Route

Published: Sep 18, 2023

Today (9/18) China Airlines formally launched the Taipei-Kumamoto route with two weekly flights every Monday and Friday. Two additional flights on Thursday and Sunday will be added starting from December bringing the total number of weekly flights to four. With the additional sixteen flights per week beginning January 2024 on the Taipei-Fukuoka route, China Airlines will be operating twenty flights a week to the Kyushu region, becoming the carrier with the most frequent services to the region. The convenience of arriving and departing from different cities gives travelers more flexibility in planning their itineraries.

The Taipei-Kumamoto route will be flown by the A321neo, China Airlines’ mainstay on regional routes. Special limited edition inaugural flight gifts, including premium non-woven fabric carry bags and denim folding travel bags, were given to passengers. Each traveler was also presented with a custom limited edition thermos and local souvenir upon landing in Kumamoto. Taoyuan Airport and Kumamoto Airport both celebrated the inauguration of a new route with a traditional water salute ceremony, while Kumamon, the official mascot of Kumamoto, welcomed arriving inaugural flight passengers. The cute, funny mascot immediately won over new fans and left travelers with unforgettable memories of their flight.

The outbound flight CI194 on the Taipei-Kumamoto route departed at 14:25 from Taoyuan Airport and landed at 17:30 local time at Kumamoto Airport. The inbound flight CI195 took off at 18:30 local time and returned to Taoyuan Airport at 19:45 Taiwan time. Kumamoto serves as the link between northern and southern Kyushu thanks to its exceptional geographic location. Pristine mountains and rivers characterize the majestic natural scenery and travelers can delight in the wonderful cuisine of this region. The Taipei-Kumamoto route offers travelers a second arrival and departure option alongside the Taipei-Fukuoka route, putting all of Kyushu’s major destinations within easy reach.

The “Pikachu Jet CI”, a hit among both the young and old, is adding Kumamoto services. The inaugural flight will give everyone a taste of what is to come, and the “Pikachu Jet CI” will become a regular fixture on non-stop flights to Kumamoto once the winter schedule commences at the end of October.

China Airlines is optimistic about the global demand for passenger travel and passenger services have now returned to 80% of pre-pandemic levels. The second half of the year saw not only the inauguration of the Taipei-Prague route but also the launch of the Kaohsiung-Gimpo route with three weekly round-trip flights every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The Songshan-Fuzhou route will also resume on September 22 with three weekly round-trip flights everyday Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. China Airlines will continue to evaluate new destinations and resumption of previous routes based on market demand. Service frequency will also be increased depending on local capacity to provide travelers with a more diverse, convenient, and comprehensive range of flying options. (2023/09/18)
