Published: Oct 31, 2018

The Taipei-Chongqing route was launched today (10/31) by China Airlines to provide travelers with a more diverse and comprehensive product range. The new route will be flown by A330 aircraft every Wednesday and Saturday. There will be 307 seats available on each flight and China Airlines will be the only carrier to operate widebody passenger aircraft on the route. A promotion is now being run by China Airlines to celebrate the new service. A special price of TWD 6,790 (before tax) for Economy Class return air fares is now available from now until November 15.

CI-533 Taipei-Chongqing service will depart at 3:30PM and arrive at 7:00PM. CI-554 Chongqing-Taipei service will depart at 8:00PM and arrive at 10:55PM. Bookings for the Taipei-Chongqing route is now at 80% and the Yangtze-Three Gorges tourism season will soon begin. Destinations such as Chengdu and Wuhan are also nearby. Travelers will be able to take advantage of the two weekly Taipei-Chengdu flights, two weekly Taipei-Wuhan flights, as well as the two weekly Songshan-Wuhan flights operated by Mandarin Airlines (a member of the CAL Group) to enter and depart from different airports. Having different entry/exit airports means there will be no need to double back and the time savings can be used to visit all the best sights along the Yangtze River basin in one go.

Chongqing is a municipality in China that has retained much of its natural beauty. Travelers can tour the Dazu Rock Carvings (world cultural heritage site), Wulong Karst (world natural heritage site), South China Karst (world natural heritage site), or admire the most beautiful split in the Earth's surface - Longshui Canyon. Chongqing is famous for hot pots and hot & spicy noodles. A visit to Chongqing is therefore a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.

Chongqing is the economic center of upper Yangtze, the industrial heart of southwest China and a key transportation hub. The region is the focus of the Great Western Development initiative and has attracted many Taiwanese investors. The CAL Group first began flying to Chongqing in 2011. The opening of the Taipei-Chongqing route will help meet the travel needs of Taiwanese businesses. The CAL Group now flies to 29 destinations in China. The 124 return flights each week provide cross-strait business travelers and tourists with more convenient and flexible options. (2018/10/31)
