Boarding Requirements

  • For flight safety and health of the passenger, pregnant passengers need to inform our reservation staff of the expected date of delivery, single or multiple pregnancy and a strong recommendation that all pregnant passengers carry their prenatal medical records with the required information while travelling.
  • Pregnant passengers who violate the regulations or submit false information may potentially cause significant disruption and expense to the airline and other passengers, China Airlines reserves the right to recover its costs (including, but not limited to flight diversion, delay claims, etc.) though legal actions.

Medical Clearance Procedure

  • The "Medical Clearance Form" and Medical Certificate, dated within 10 days of the flight departure, must be prepared.
  • The Medical Certificate must include fetal health status, pregnancy stage (in weeks), estimated delivery date, single or multiple pregnancy, and fitness for air travel. It must be issued by a qualified obstetrician (in Chinese or English only).
  • Please contact our Customer Service Center to obtain medical clearance and confirm booking by submitting the "Medical Clearance Form" and Medical Certificate at least 2 working days (excluding weekends and holidays) before your scheduled flight departure.
  • For return or continuing flight that is within two weeks of the departure date, the approval for fly may be granted with initial application with the departure flight application.

Purchase Infant Ticket

Newborn infants under 14 days old (on the boarding date):
  • Not accepted onboard
 
Infants aged between 14 days - under 2 years old (on the boarding date):
  • Infants not occupying a seat: Applicable to infant fare.
  • Infants occupying a seat: A child fare must be purchased for infants occupying a seat (please contact China Airlines branches or travel agency to purchase such tickets).
  • Infants must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older (on the same flight and in the same cabin).

  • For safety concerns, regardless of whether the infant occupies a seat or requests a bassinet, the infant must be held on the adult’s lap during takeoff and landing.
  • Each adult passenger may travel with up to two infants.
  • If one adult travels with two infants, one of the infant must purchase a child fare ticket and occupy a seat using a Child Restraint System (child safety seat ). Please refer to the Child Restraint System for more instructions about the specifications and the usage.
 
 

Free Baggage Allowance

Infants Not Occupying a Seat:
  • One piece of checked baggage.
  • Either a collapsible stroller or a car seat, but not both, can be checked in free of charge.
 
Infants Occupying a Seat:
  • The free baggage allowance is the same as for an adult.
  • Either a collapsible stroller or a car seat, but not both, can be checked in free of charge.

Baby Bassinets

We provide a limited number of bassinets for infants in-flight (except A321neo Aircraft). Since only the bulkhead seats have more space to place the bassinet, if you require this service, we will prioritize offering you a bulkhead seat.
 
  • Eligibility: Infants measuring less than 71 cm / 28 inches and weighing less than 11 kg / 24.2 pounds.
  • How to Apply: Please contact our Customer Service Center / Branch office after purchasing your ticket to apply for this service.
  • Notice: Due to the limited availability of bulkhead seats and bassinets, it is recommended that you request a bassinet when making your booking.

Infant Meal Onboard
 
  • Pre-order Required: Infant meals (BBML) are available onboard. Please pre-order through our website/app or contact our branch offices or customer service center at least 24 hours before your scheduled flight departure.
  • For details on special meal pre-ordering, please refer to the Special Meal Selection page.
  • Meal contents and service availability are subject to actual supply. We apologize if we are unable to fully meet your specific needs.
 
 

Diapers

Disposable diapers (L size) are available onboard in limited quantities and for emergency use only. The specifications and availability of onboard supplies are subject to actual inflight stock and may not fully meet your needs. We recommend that you prepare your own items as necessary.

Children aged between 2 years - under 12 years old (on the boarding date)

  • Applicable to children fare.
  • Must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or older.



Children aged over 12 years old

  • Adult fare is required.

Free Baggage Allowance

Child Restraint System (CRS) / Child Safety Belt (CARES)

If a child safety seat or safety belt is needed, you may bring your own for use on board.
