China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, is continuing to explore new cross-industry partnerships in onboard dining by partnering with the popular "Takenoya" izakaya restaurant from Fukuoka and the well-established "Marufuku Coffee" cafe from Osaka to serve up a Japanese-style banquet in the skies for a limited time only. From now until September 30, travelers on all flights from the Japanese cities of Fukuoka and Osaka to Taiwan will be treated to a culinary experience born out of Japanese craftsmanship. The recreations of dishes from the restaurants will fill every mouthful with the rich flavors of Japan.
"Takenoya" first opened in Hakata, Fukuoka, and its signature grilled chicken skewer and chicken cuisine have made it a household name throughout the Kyushu region. To celebrate both the 50th anniversary of China Airlines' Fukuoka route as well as the founding of Takenoya, the airline and the izakaya are collaborating two service up co-branded main courses in two cabin classes on flights from Fukuoka to Taoyuan and Kaohsiung. In Business Class, Kyushu's famous eels take the pride of place with a main course of "Kabayaki Grilled Eel." Tender, flaky strips of eel are brushed with a sweet and salty sauce to produce an unforgettably Japanese taste sensation; Economy Class is presented with the chicken cuisine that Takenoya is famous for. In "Grilled Chicken Thigh and Chicken Meat Ball Served with Seaweed Rice", Japanese seaweed is scattered on mouthwatering chicken thigh and meat balls grilled in the kabayaki style. The classic taste can be enjoyed by the old and young alike.
"Marufuku Coffee" is a well-established cafe brand that is synonymous with Osaka. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of China Airlines’ Taoyuan-Osaka Kansai route, Marufuku Coffee has created a special menu for flights from Osaka to Taoyuan and Kaohsiung. The Business Class menu features "Japanese Omelette" as the entree, "Shrimp Garden Salad and Sweet Corn Dressing", then the choice of "Cantonese Braised Pork Belly Served with Steamed Rice" or "Classic Slow-braised Beef Served with Mashed Potatoes" as the main course, accompanied by Honey Bread. The retro Japanese-style Western foods are themselves a fusion of classic elements. A "Coffee Roll Cake" offers the perfect ending to a delightful meal. Economy Class travelers will be served " Marufuku Pudding" for dessert. The smooth, caramelized pudding captures the layers of texture in classic Japanese desserts.
China Airlines is constantly refining and diversifying its onboard dining experience. The menu on flights departing from Taiwan will continue to be regularly updated through collaborations with popular restaurant brands such as Da Wan Yakiniku, T+T, Little Tree Food, and Double Moon. Desserts and beverages now also feature contributions from Le Ruban Pâtisserie, TenRen 913 King's Oolong Tea, US-based Peet's Coffee, and cocktails by BLAH BLAH Bar. For travelers, this means every trip is a fresh new experience filled with variety! (2026/07/06)
