Redemption Procedures

Redemption Procedures

•    Members should make sure they have sufficient mileage to redeem the award they wish to redeem. To transfer an award to a relative or friend, the transfer procedures must be completed first.
•    When using an award ticket, members must book their flights with China Airlines' reservation agents directly 24 hours prior to flight departure and use the proper booking class, please have your ticket issued before ticketing deadline.
•    Award tickets may be issued for international scheduled flights operated only by China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines. The tickets must be issued at China Airlines' downtown ticketing counter before departure. (The airport counters do not issue or re-issue award tickets).
•    Members may access to China Airlines website to redeem ticket awards at Dynasty Member webpage.
Ticket Award may be issued for international scheduled flights operated only by China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines.

Points to Note

  1. If the origin and destination of an award ticket itinerary are in the same area, no more onward travel is permitted (No back tracking). Excluding Taiwan, China Airlines' destinations can be categorized into following 6 areas: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia (including Delhi and Guam), Mainland China (including Hong Kong), America, Oceania, Europe. Chart below is for your reference.

    • Round trip between Singapore and Surabaya and round trip between Australia and New Zealand are still applicable for award ticket redemption.
  2. If a round trip originates in Taiwan, transferring at Taiwan is not allowed.
  3. A stopover means a planned break in a valid route between origin and destination and vice versa. For a round-trip award ticket, one free stopover for each direction is allowed, in addition to destination (No back tracking); for a one-way award ticket, no free stopover is allowed.
    Example of an inapplicable itinerary: Tokyo-Taipei-Osaka-Taipei-Tokyo
  4. A round trip may have one open jaw for each direction. Open-jaw travel means returning to the same origin from a different city after arriving at a destination, or returning to a different city after arriving at a destination, or both situations above. The two ends of an open jaw must be in the same area (see remark). If pricing of an open-jaw award ticket is not available, members should issue two one-way tickets instead. Members should be responsible for transportation between the two ends of an open jaw.
    Remark:
    Excluding Taiwan, China Airlines' destinations can be categorized into following 6 areas for open-jaw travel: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia (including Delhi and Guam), Mainland China (including Hong Kong), America, Oceania, Europe.
    Example of an inapplicable itinerary: Taipei- San Francisco // Frankfurt- Taipei
  5. Members are responsible for all taxes or other charges related to award tickets.
  6. Award ticket is valid for one year from the date it is issued. The full journey must be completed within the validity period. A free award ticket holder may not request a class upgrade by paying the ticket difference or combining the award ticket with an upgrade award.
  7. Required mileage of an award ticket is based on long-haul flight if the itinerary includes both short and long-haul flights. If the cabin class of long-haul flight is not available in short-haul flight because of aircraft configuration, cabin class of short-haul flight will be one class lower than long-haul flight. If itinerary of an award ticket includes different cabin classes, required mileage will be based on the higher cabin class.
  8. An award ticket does not include free accommodation (Day Use and STPC) during flight transfer.
  9. Award tickets are not eligible for itinerary between Guam and U.S. via Taipei.
  10. China Airlines will notify members of amendments to ticket award qualifications made in accordance with adjustments in cabin configuration or short-term promotions via other means (including the China Airlines Website DFP Latest News, or Mileage Summary.)
  11. China Airlines and Mandarin Airlines reserve the right to limit or adjust the number of award ticket availability subject to the status of booking on each flight. The award ticket seats may not be available, even if seats are available for paid tickets.
  12. Ticketing date on/after 02Oct.2019, No-show fee will be imposed on passengers who did not board the flight. A handling fee of USD100 on the long haul ticket, USD50 on the short haul ticket (or the equivalent amount in local currency) will be charged. The most stringent no-show fee rules will apply to whole itinerary, for example, member holding award ticket of TYO-TPE-LAX and no show on TYO-TPE sector, USD100 of no show fee will be collected.
Reissue Award Tickets
  • No-Show fee will be charged upon requesting award ticket reissuance if members did not board their flight and did not cancel their booking. No-Show fee is USD100 for long-haul flights and USD50 for short-haul flights (or the equivalent amount in local currency). If the itinerary includes both short and long-haul flights, No-Show fee will be charged as long-haul flight.
  • To reissue an award ticket, please contact China Airlines downtown ticketing counters prior to departure. Airport ticketing counters and China Airlines website are not available.
  • Under no circumstance should an award ticket be endorsed to another carrier. Once any part of an award ticket has been used, reissuance is not acceptable.
  • A handling fee of TWD1,500 (or the equivalent amount in local currency) will be charged for reissuing an award ticket, and fuel surcharge and tax will be priced again based on the date of re-issuance.
  • Members requesting award ticket reissuance are responsible for all related taxes or any other surcharges, and all payment can only be done with cash or credit card.
Refund Award Tickets
  • No-Show fee will be charged upon requesting award ticket refund if members did not board their flight and did not cancel their booking. No-Show fee is USD100 for long-haul flights and USD50 for short-haul flights (or the equivalent amount in local currency). If the itinerary includes both short and long-haul flights, No-Show fee will be charged as long-haul flight.
  • Normal ticketing and booking regulations also apply to award ticket refund.
  • To refund an award ticket, please contact China Airlines downtown ticketing counters prior to departure. Airport ticketing counters and China Airlines website are not available.
  • To refund a totally unused award ticket, a handling fee of TWD1,500 (or the equivalent amount in local currency) will be charged. If the award number is still within validity, the owner of the award number can issue a new award ticket or requests to cancel the award number to regain miles. In the case of regaining miles, miles still valid on the refund date will be returned to the nominator's account from which the miles were deducted for the award number. If the award number is expired, which means a new award ticket cannot be issued and miles cannot be returned, only unused tax will be returned and no handling fee will be charged.
  • To refund a partially unused award ticket, which means a new award ticket cannot be issued and miles cannot be returned, only unused tax will be returned and no handling fee will be charged.
