SkyTeam Ticket Awards

You may use your accumulated mileage to redeem SkyTeam ticket awards for access to more routes.

  1. DFP members may redeem ticket awards for flights operated either by a single SkyTeam partner (e.g. a single SkyTeam airlines) or by multiple SkyTeam partners due to the need of flight connection (e.g. China Airlines + SkyTeam partner airlines or SkyTeam partner airlines + SkyTeam partner airlines).
  2. The flights to be taken through SkyTeam ticket award redemption must be marketed and operated by the same SkyTeam partner airlines. Code-shared flights of SkyTeam partner airlines are not eligible for ticket award redemption.
  3. China Airlines' redemption level shall apply if the whole itinerary comprises only of China Airlines sectors.
  4. Redemption of SkyTeam ticket awards during the embargo periods of each Sky Team partner airlines are not accepted.

  3. The redemption level for the highest cabin class will apply if the award ticket journey involves different cabin classes.
  4. One-way ticket award level will be calculated half of round-trip award ticket redemption level.
  5. The redemption levels for children tickets are the same as those of adult tickets.
  6. Redemption for Premium Economy Class award tickets is only available for flights providing Premium Economy class service.
Reservation
  1. Members who redeem SkyTeam ticket awards should contact China Airlines' reservation center to book the requested flight.
  2. Upgrade awards on an award ticket is not allowed.
  3. Repeated bookings of award ticket seats are not allowed. China Airlines reserves the right to cancel the repeated reservation without prior notice.

Notes:
  • China Southern Airlines(CZ) is not a member of the SkyTeam alliance, but the procedures for booking and issuing award tickets are the same as the terms.
 
Ticketing
Ticketing
  1. All reservations must be confirmed before ticketing. Any request for ticket issuance without prior booking or airport standby is not permitted.
  2. Ticketing time limit set by SkyTeam member carriers applies.
  3. When the reservation is confirmed, members can contact China Airlines Call Center or Branch Offices during office hours to issue the award ticket. Any request for award ticket issue or reissue is not accepted at the airport.
  4. The relevant taxes and additional charges (such as fuel surcharges, etc.) are all borne by the ticket holder when issuing SkyTeam award ticket.

Ticket Validity Period

   Each award ticket is valid for one year from the date of issue.

  1. Reservation changes of award tickets are acceptable (only applicable to the same airlines' flights or the same date of travel).
  2. Once an award ticket is partially used, ticket or itinerary changes are not allowed.
  3. If an award ticket remains completely unused, a handling fee USD100 or its equivalent amount in local currency will be charged for each ticket that has its destination changed (limited to the same region) or is changed to another SkyTeam partner airlines' flight.
  4. The new ticket validity period is the same as that of the original award ticket.
  5. To refund a totally unused award ticket, a handling fee of USD50 (or the equivalent amount in local currency) will be charged. If the award number is still within validity, the owner of the award number can either issue a new award ticket or request to cancel the award number to regain miles. In the case of regaining miles, the miles still valid on the refund date will be returned to the nominator’s account from which the miles were deducted for the award number. If the award number is expired, meaning a new award ticket cannot be issued and miles cannot be returned, no handling fee will be charged.
  6. To refund a partially unused award ticket, which means a new award ticket cannot be issued and miles cannot be returned, no handling fee will be charged.
  7. Unused taxes that can be refunded when refunding are subject to the fare regulations of the operating airline.

  1. The itinerary connections of SkyTeam award tickets must be the shortest direct route between the point of origin and the destination. Based on this principle, itineraries between Europe/Africa/Middle East and America shall not be via Asia/Southwest Pacific, itineraries between America and Asia/Southwest Pacific shall not be via Europe/Africa/Middle East and itineraries between Asia/Southwest Pacific and Europe/Africa/Middle East shall not be via Americas.
  2. Stopovers are not allowed for a one-way ticket. A maximum of three sectors are allowed for each one-way award ticket.
  3. One open-jaw and one stopover are allowed in the itinerary for round-trip SkyTeam award tickets.
    • An open-jaw itinerary must be in the same redemption area.
    • A stopover refers to a stay of 24 hours or more at a point other than the destination and the turnaround point and must be in the same region as the origin or destination.
  4. Stopovers and transit points also have to comply with the shortest direct route principle and must be in the same direction during the itinerary (either eastbound or westbound). This means stopovers and transit points must be the points on the valid route between the point of origin and the destination. (Please contact our service personnel for the valid routes.)
  5. For the purpose of flight connecting, SkyTeam round-trip award tickets allow a maximum of six sectors (including open-jaws). When the point of origin and the destination of itineraries are in different redemption region, transit points can be in different redemption area. When the point of origin and the destination are in the same redemption area, transit points can be only in the same region as that of the point of origin and destination.
  6. SKT award tickets may be used to travel from the original point of departure to the destination or to a turnaround point and then back to point of origin, but no beyond travel is permitted (No back tracking).
  7. Upgrade awards on an award ticket are not allowed.
  8. Itineraries that include segments crossing both the Pacific and Atlantic are not accepted.
  9. The seats for award tickets are subject to the limited seat availability of each SkyTeam partner airlines.
  10. The use of Award Tickets shall comply all the general carriage conditions, tariffs and charges, ticket conditions, and every policy of the operating airline, and by all the terms and conditions of the SkyTeam program.
