Taiwan-Based China Airlines Unveils the Pastel-Hued "Pikachu Jet CI2" Inviting Travelers on a Spring Flight with Pokémon

Published: Mar 12, 2026

China Airlines, a Taiwan-based carrier, unveiled its second Pokémon-themed aircraft, the "Pikachu Jet CI2" in partnership with The Pokémon Company. The Airbus A350-900 features a vibrant livery of flying Pokémon under the "Flying Out to the World" theme and is scheduled to enter service on April 2. Initially assigned to the Taoyuan – Tokyo (Narita) and Taoyuan – Seattle routes, the aircraft promises travelers a journey filled with surprise and anticipation just as spring bursts into full bloom.

Thirteen Pokémon grace the fuselage of the Pikachu Jet CI2. The lively procession is led by Hoppip, heralding the arrival of spring, alongside Flying Pikachu and Jumpluff. A Dratini catches a ride on Dragonite's back, while Beautifly and Vivillon spread their wings — a respectful nod to Taiwan's reputation as the "Butterfly Kingdom". As Swablu and Altaria take to the skies, Skiploom is lifted by the breeze to join Cresselia and Clefairy, joining together as they fly across the world.

The auspicious cloud and floral tile motifs on the fuselage draw inspiration from Taiwan's traditional decorative tile culture. These repeating patterns convey the elegance of Taiwanese craftsmanship, incorporating elements that symbolize good fortune and happiness. The unique pastel palette perfectly complements China Airlines' classic plum blossom logo on the tail fin, creating a sophisticated and delicate aesthetic that is instantly recognizable worldwide. For an added touch of fun, passengers can search for Pokémon hidden in the intricate tile patterns.

The enchanting Pokémon designs and distinctive Taiwanese tile motifs extend to the aircraft's onboard amenities. The dining tray mat, mixed nuts, themed paper cups, head rest cover, and pillow cases all include clever touches. Every passenger on this dedicated flight will have a chance to receive exclusive gifts, such as a charming Pikachu ballpoint pen or sticky notes. In addition, China Airlines will progressively introduce these themed onboard amenities on other select flights, travelers heading to popular destinations like Phoenix, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland, Osaka, and Bangkok will be able to have the chance to experience this unique magic.
