November 13, 2007, Taipei, Taiwan ¡VThe Board of Directors of China Airlines approved additional appointments to its new senior management team on 12 November. Su-Chien Hsieh, VP of Passenger Sales and Marketing, was appointed SVP of Marketing; Young Chang, VP of Human Resources Management, was appointed SVP of Administration; and Nei-Herng Liu, VP of the Mainland China Division, was appointed SVP of Cargo.Roger Han, SVP of Administration was appointed Executive Chief Representative of the Mainland China Division. The moves once again indicate Chairman and President Ringo Chao¡¦s determination to pursue the continuing reorganization and innovation of corporate culture.
In addition, Chairman Chao will relinquish several chairmanship posts in China Airlines¡¦ associated companies. The current Marketing SVP, Kuo-Hsing Chou, was assigned as new Board Director of China Pacific Catering Services Ltd., while the current Cargo SVP, Mike Lee, was assigned as new Board Director of Taiwan Air Cargo Terminal Ltd., and Chairman of China Pacific Catering Services Ltd., Sheng-Shan Chen, was assigned as new Board Director of Mandarin Airlines. The above subsidiaries will hold Board meetings to vote for their new Chairmen.
The chairman of China Airlines Group used to serve as Chairman of its subsidiaries.But CAL Chairman and President Chao has given authorization to release the positions to his management team. He pointed out clearly, that only through a series of rotating assignments across the business units, would the management personnel gain broader experience, and widen their views of business management.
Su-Chien Hsieh was born in 1951 and graduated from Soochow University with a bachelor¡¦s degree in Economics. Hsieh has extensive experience in the sales and marketing arena.He began his professional career with China Airlines in 1979 as an accounting clerk, and worked his way up in the company through a variety of positions, including general manager of Indonesia Branch Office, general manager of Taipei Branch Office and general manager of Kaohsiung Branch Office.
Young Chang was born in 1956 and graduated from Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taiwan, with a bachelor¡¦s degree in Law. Chang has more than 20 years of experience with China Airlines, and previously served in several key roles including vice president of System Operation Control Division, assistant vice president of Flight Operation Division, and general manager of Guam Branch Office. Currently he is a core member of the Steering Committee responsible for the improvement of Engineering and Maintenance operations.
Nei-Herng Liu joined China Airlines in 1971, and he has a distinguished professional career with China Airlines.Prior to his current assignment as vice president of the Mainland China Division, he served as vice president of Passenger Sales and Marketing Division, vice president of Cargo Sales and Marketing Division, and general manager of the Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur branch offices. He was born in 1947 and graduated from Tam-Kang University with a bachelor¡¦s degree in International Trade.
