China Airlines and China Southern Airlines

Cooperate on Frequent Flyer Program

August 30, 2005, Taipei, Taiwan – China Airlines and China Southern Airlines will cooperate on a joint mileage program beginning on September 1, 2005. The cooperation covers all international routes operated by China Airlines and China Southern, plus 13 China Southern regional routes between Hong Kong and mainland China, and 17 China Southern domestic routes from Guangzhou to other cities in China.

The regional and domestic sectors on China Southern Airlines that are included in the frequent flyer cooperation include Hong Kong to Guangzhou, Beijing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Haikou, Xiamen, Shantou, Changchun, Dalian, Harbin, Shenyang, Kunming and Urumqi, and from Guangzhou to Beihai, Changsha, Guilin, Haikou, Shanghai, Beijing, Changchun, Shenyang, Dalian, Harbin, Kunming, Nanning, Xiamen, Shantou, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Urumqi.

Beginning today, members of China Airlines Dynasty Frequent Flyer Program can accumulate mileage in their accounts when traveling on First, Business and specified Economy classes of China Southern Airlines. At the same time, members of China Southern’s Sky Pearl Club can enjoy the same benefits when traveling on China Airlines flights. The accumulated mileage can be used for free tickets and upgrades.

To celebrate the cooperation, between now and the end of November, members of both mileage programs can earn bonus mileage. Dynasty members can earn 2500 miles on Dynasty Class and 1500 miles on Economy Class instead of 510 miles for Taipei/Kaohsiung to Hong Kong flights, each way. Sky Pearl members can earn bonus mileage of 2000 kilometers on Dynasty Class and 1000 kilometers on Economy Class on the same sectors. In addition, Dynasty members can enjoy double mileage on qualified China Southern regional flights from Hong Kong to 12 mainland China destinations except to Guangzhou.

This is CAL’s third cooperation on a mileage program with Chinese carriers. China Airlines began cooperating with China Eastern Airlines last year and with Air China in April 2005.

There are more than 1.7 million members in CAL’s Dynasty Flyer Program. With just 15,000 miles, members of the Dynasty Flyer Program can exchange their miles for seat upgrades on regional flights. There are more than 2.8 million members in China Southern’s Sky Pearl Club, the largest in China, and its members can redeem for upgrades on domestic flights with only 5,000 kilometers.
