April 23, 2004, Taipei, Taiwan- In response to strong market
demand, China Airlines will increase the frequency of its Taipei-Hanoi
passenger services (CI683/684) to a daily service starting on
May 17. In addition, China Airlines maintains a daily code-share
service (CI925/924) on the Taipei-Hanoi route with Vietnam Airlines.
The CI683/684 flights use Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 158 seats
including 8 in Dynasty Class and 150 in Economy Class. Hanoi-bound
flight CI683 will depart Taipei every day at 9:00 in the morning,
and arrive in Hanoi at 11:30 am. The return flight CI684 leaves
Hanoi at 12:30 pm and arrives in Taipei at 16:50 on the same day.
China Airlines re-entered the lucrative Vietnam market in 1992
and launched Taipei-Ho Chi Minh City passenger service. Hanoi
became China Airlines!| second destination in Vietnam since 2003.
The passengers on these services are mostly business and leisure
travelers as well as overseas Vietnamese. In addition, China Airlines
runs a daily service codeshare cooperation on Vietnam Airlines!|
Kaohsiung-Ho Chi Minh flights. Beginning from May 17, there will
be 5 daily flights between Taiwan and Vietnam on the China Airlines
network. China Airlines also inaugurated a cargo service to Ho
Chi Minh with 2 flights per week in March 2003. As a result, China
Airlines is the largest operator of air transportation services
between Taiwan and Vietnam.
Vietnam has enjoyed an annual GDP growth rate of more than 6.5%
since 2000, and is the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia.
Taiwan is an important trade partner for Vietnam: it is Vietnam!|s
second largest supplier of imports, and sixth largest export market.
The two nations maintain a close trade relationship.
With a population of 3 million, Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam,
and is the cultural and economic center of northern Vietnam. With
the added frequency, passengers on business or pleasure travel
will have more flexibility in arranging their trips. Using its
Dynasty tour packages, China Airlines also designs various Dynasty
Packages to Hanoi and Ha Long Bay to meet demand from individual
travelers.
China Airlines operates a fleet of 59 aircraft, and flies to
44 destinations in 21 countries. The average age of its fleet
is just 6 years.
