Northwest Airlines

Effective from August 01, 2007, China Airlines align the FFP partnership with Northwest Airlines (NW) and DFP members will be able to earn and redeem mileage on contracted flights.
Mileage Accumulation
When flying on a qualifying fare, on a regularly scheduled flight operated by Northwest Airlines (charter flights and co-share flights are excluded), DFP members may accumulate the flown mileage on their CI's accounts.
To ensure the NW mileage is accumulated correctly, DFP members should advise their membership numbers to both CI and NW personnel when making reservation, ticketing, and checking-in at airport counters. The mileage will be credited to member's account within 4-6 weeks.

* The flown mileage of a flight can only be credited to either CI or NW frequent flyer program. Once flown mileage has been credited, members may not request to transfer it to any other partners.
* Northwest, Northwest Airlink (Pinnacle Air and Mesaba) and Compass-operated flights are valid for mileage accrual and redemption. The valid flight numbers are: NW1-2099, NW2700-3799, NW4700-4799, NW5600-5999.
Mileage Correction
If you have any questions regarding your mileage with NW flights, please provide us the boarding passes and photocopies of tickets as well as membership card number within 6 months of flight's departure. China Airlines will amend your mileage within 2 weeks after verification with NW. Please keep all receipts until your missing mileage has been credited to your DFP accounts.

Redemption Procedure
1.
According to specified mileage required, DFP members are entitled to round trip free ticket awards for traveling on self-operated, scheduled Northwest flights of some specific regions under the designated code"NW". DFP members should make sure they have sufficient mileage for redeeming NW free tickets.
2.
When requesting free ticket awards, DFP members must confirm their reservations in advance by calling CI reservation center and inform that they are requesting NW free award travel. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the reservation and denial of ticket issuance for their awards.
3.
Members may proceed to CI downtown ticketing office for award ticket issuing before NW's ticket time limit. Airport counters do not issue award tickets.
Points to Note
1.
Ticket holders are responsible for all applicable taxes and any other fee to free award tickets.
2.
Award travels are subject to special limitations on seating availability on flights operated by Northwest Airlines.
3.
Each award ticket is valid for one year from the date of issuance. The full journey must be completed within the validity period.
4.
Award tickets on Northwest Airlines flights within the Continental U.S. or between the Continental U.S. and Canada will require a Saturday night stay, which is consistent with the rules of the WorldPerks Program for travel on Northwest Flights. The Saturday night stay requirement does not apply to international itineraries to/from destinations other than Canada.
If the award ticket is subject to a Saturday-night stay requirement, and if you have already begun travel and want to return early (no longer meeting the Saturday-night stay requirement), the return portion of the ticket becomes invalid, and the miles cannot be redeposited. Your only option is to purchase a one-way ticket for the return portion of your travel.
5.
Each free award ticket is allowed either one legal open-jaw or one en route stopover per roundtrip journey in eligible regions.
*An open jaw is when you travel to one city and return from another, or vice versa; for example, flying from Boston to Billings and returning from Denver to Boston. In this example, the open-jaw segment is Billings to Denver. Both flight segments must be of a greater distance than the non-flight (open-jaw) segment. All the points on the ticket should be covered by the same award mileage level/region.
*A stopover is a planned break of more than 24 hours on an international trip or four hours on a domestic trip between the point of origin and destination in international itineraries or vice versa. Stopovers are not permitted for travel within Asia Pacific/Micronesia, or within/between the United States, Alaska, Canada, Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean and Puerto Rico.
6.
The endorsement of the free award tickets of NW flight to any other carriers requested by DFP members will not be permitted. The passenger name on the free award ticket may not be changed once the award ticket is issued.
7.
After the issuance of a free award ticket, the award flight may be changed for a different date. The new flight should be subject to Northwest Airlines seat limitations and the original expiry date of the award ticket.
*Route changes for an unused free award ticket is permitted. A handling fee of NT$600 or the equivalent of US$20 in other currency will be charged. Effective from 01 Sep. 2008, a handling fee of NT$1,500 (or the equivalent of US$50 in local currencies) will be charged for reissuing each free award ticket.
*No changes will be allowed on the return portion of an award ticket once travel has commenced. In case of award ticket refund, all China Airlines procedures apply (including surcharges and mileage deduction). Please refer to Points to Note of Ticket Award.
8.
If DFP members fail to comply with NW WorldPerks Program rules of award travel, they may be denied for boarding.
9.
Award travels on Northwest Airlines flights may not be sold, bartered or purchased. Any award obtained in this manner will be void. If a person other than the person named on the award attempts to use the award, it will be void and travel will be denied.
