The required mileage for an upgrade award is calculated on a single flight basis.

Upgrade from economy class to premium business class are adjusted to UPB(low season) and UPBA (high season) award codes of same 60,000 miles on specific Long-haul routes (as of LAX/NYC/SFO from 2015.07.01,FRA from 2015.11.1) operated by 777-300ER.

  1. New award codes are applied for departure date on/after 01 Jul 2015.
  2. Old award codes ( as of UPC award code of 40,000 miles for low season and UPCA award code of 50,000 miles for high season) are valid for those I/class upgrade bookings for departure on/after 01 Jul 2015 and spaces and award codes are confirmed/quoted by BMUC on/before 15 Jun 2015. On/after 16 Jun 2015, if member's seats are on standby basis or have confirmed seats without BMUC, new award codes are applied.
  3. Once members' schedule (itinerary/travel date/flight) are changed on/after 16 Jun 2015, new award codes are applied.

  4. Effective from 1 July, 2015, China Airlines will terminate First class service. Beginning from the same date, we will stop the redeeming of First class upgrade awards and ticket awards.
  5. Upgrade from economy class to business class are adjusted to UPB(low season) and UPBA (high season) award codes of same 60,000 miles. New award codes are applied for departure date on/after 12 Jan. 2016
  6. Upgrade award from economy class to premium economy class, and premium economy class to business class are added and coded as UPY/UPI(low season) and UPYA/UPIA (high season).
  7. Old award codes ( as of UPC award code of 40,000 miles for low season and UPCA award code of 50,000 miles for high season) are valid for those I/class upgrade bookings for departure on/after 12 Jan. 2016, and spaces and award codes are confirmed/quoted by BMUC on/before 15 Nov 2015. On/after 16 Nov. 2015 if memberˇ¦s seats are on standby basis or have confirmed seats without BMUC, new award codes are applied.
  8. Once members' schedule (itinerary/travel date/flight) are changed on/after 16 Nov. 2015, new award codes are applied.
