Unaccompanied Minors (UM)
Definition: A child or an infant is considered as UM if he/she is:
  • Not accompanied by an adult passenger aged 18 years or older; or
  • The young minor aged less than 5 years old is not sitting in the same compartment with the accompanying adult passenger; or
  • Not having the same origin/destination as the accompanying adult passenger.
Various age groups of UM, different class of services to offer and fare to collect - applicable to CI on-line carriage:

Stretcher Case
Stretcher passenger: For an adult or child passenger on stretcher, the charge for the carriage of the stretcher passenger shall be:
  • Passenger : One time of any applicable adult market selling fare.
  • Carriage of the stretcher shall be six times of full normal one way economy class adult fare (with applicable normal commission if through travel agent).
Attendants:
  • For the attendant to accompany and take care of the stretcher passenger, one time of any applicable adult market selling fare.
  • If more than one attendant is to accompany the stretcher passenger, for each additional attendant, one additional applicable adult market selling fare shall be charged.
Free Baggage Allowance
  • Stretcher Passenger: The total free baggage allowance will be that applicable to the number of fares paid, but the passenger will be allowed to carry only "personal articles".
  • Attendant(s): Free baggage allowance will apply for each fare paid.
 
Oxygen for Medical Use by Passenger
Charges for oxygen service: USD200 per Portable Oxygen Unit per segment.
  • Charges of seat occupied for carrying per Portable Oxygen Unit on the passenger use sector(s).
  • The numbers of seats occupied shall be based on quantity of Portable Oxygen Unit as described in the Medical Certificate signed by passenger’s physician. Two Portable Oxygen Unit(s) can beaccommodated in one seat.
  • This charge of seat occupied for carrying POU as stipulated herewith is applicable in case when the passenger is to travel on a stretcher.
 
Lost Ticket Service Charge; A service charge of USD50 (USD100.00 for lost tickets originally issued in USA) per ticket is collected while the replacement ticket without payment is issued.
 
Paper Ticket Charge: A service charge of USD30 per ticket is collected for the issuance or reissuance of E-Ticket eligible itinerary into Paper Ticket.
 
Award Ticket
Once a free award ticket has been used, requests for reissuing or refunding the ticket will not be accepted. Members may apply to reissue or refund an unused award ticket under the following conditions:
* A handling fee of TWD$1500 (or the equivalent of US$50 in local currencies) will be charged for each ticket to reissue a free award ticket.
* Normal ticketing regulations apply to ticket award refunds as well. China Airlines will return mileage still valid on the refund date to the original member's account.
A handling charge of 4% mileage on an award will be deducted from the account of the member holding that ticket(s). In case paired ticket of an award were issued to different persons, the owner of the award is deemed as the holder. The receiving nominee of a transferred award will be deemed as owner of that award.
US$ 50 (or the equivalent in local currency) can replace above mileage deduction only if there is no sufficient mileage in the account of member requesting ticket refund.
 
Award Transfer
When manually process award transfer, a handling charge of 4% mileage of the award will be deducted from account of the member requesting the transfer. In case there is no sufficient mileage in the account, mileage deduction can be replaced by cash payment: TWD$ 600 (or US$20 equivalent in local currency) and TWD$900 (or US$30 equivalent in local currency) will be charged for an upgrade award and a free ticket award respectively When manually canceling transferred award, a handling charge of 4% mileage of the award will be deducted from account of the member requesting the transfer. In case there is no sufficient mileage in the account, mileage deduction can be replaced by cash payment: TWD$ 600 (or US$20 equivalent in local currency) and TWD$900 (or US$30 equivalent in local currency) will be charged for an upgrade award and a free ticket award respectively
