• Seat Selection

Specific seat requests are available at the time of booking, or can be accessed through “SEAT SELECTION” on our CI Website after completion of ticketing purchasing for First class, Business class and most economy class customers 90 days prior to flight departure. Seat selection is not applicable to partial economy class. For more details about seat requests, please contact our Reservation Office. Please be advised that your requested seat will be reserved until 60 minutes prior to flight departure.

Although we do our utmost to ensure that your seat request is met, China Airlines reserves the right to assign or reassign seats, without prior notice, due to operational constraints or other special reasons.
In compliance with flight safety regulations and to assure cabin safety, the exit seats cannot be assigned to a passenger who falls into the following categories:

Those who are pregnant, seriously ill, or lack of mobility, strength or dexterity in arms, hands or legs.
*.
Those younger than 15 years of age.
*.
Those unable to read or understand CAL's printed or graphic emergency evacuation instructions.
*.
Those who are blind or lack visual ability.
*.
Those who are deaf or lack aural ability.
*.
Those who are unable to orally convey information to other passengers.
*.
Those who are responsible for carrying small children.
*.
Deportees and their escorts.
*.
Those traveling with pets (such as a seeing-eye dog).
*.
Passengers traveling with block seat baggage.
*.
Passengers with any condition that might cause bodily harm if they perform any of the applicable tasks.
 

If you have been assigned an emergency exit seat at our check-in counter, you will be asked whether you are able to perform the following functions in case an emergency occurs and cabin crews are not able to provide assistance:

Locate the emergency exit.
*.
Recognize the emergency exit opening mechanism and understand the operating instructions.
*.
Read English well enough to understand these instructions and follow hand signals and oral directions given by crew members.
*.
Stow or secure the over-wing emergency exit door so it will not impede use of the exit.
*.
Activate and stabilize the slide after deployment, and assist others in getting off the slide.
*.
Assess, select and follow a safe path away from the emergency exit and aircraft.

If your are not able or willing to perform the above-mentioned functions, please contact our ground staff or crew member to change your seat.

 
  • Check-in Options

Aside from airport counter check-in, we provide other convenient check-in options for you such as www.china-airlines.com Internet e-Check-In and KIOSK Self Check-Inservices at airports in Taoyuan, Kaohsiung, Sung Shan, Taichung, Hong Kong, Vancouver , San Francisco, Tokyo Haneda, Nagoya , Frankfurt and Los Angles, besides that , we also provide check- in service at Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR ) Cingpu station. It is quite simple to find the best option, but before you consider your options, please note that some airports require you to be there sooner. Please see the Check-in Requirements

According to Taiwan, USA, Korea, Japan, India, China, Thailand and Netherlands government regulation, when passengers are exiting or entering those countries must fill in their document data. In addition, when a non-US-permanent-resident is entering USA, she/he must fill in her/his stay address in USA.

US Visa Waiver Program: Since January 12th, 2009 all Visa Waiver Program travelers must apply and be pre-approved to travel to the US using the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Passengers who plan to enter the US using the Visa Waiver Program will not be permitted to board their flight unless their details have been registered with the ESTA website. We would like to remind you that applications may take up to 72 hours.
 
Internet e-Check-In
You can check-in online from the comfort of your home or office from 24 hours up to 1.5 hours prior to the flight scheduled departure time. To help you save time at the airport, Internet e-Check-in allows you to :

Check-in yourself and others traveling with you up to 9 persons in the same booking record.

Select or change your seat only after you have already completed e-Check-in procedures.

Passengers departing from designated airports may print your boarding passes at home or in the office or enjoy our Mobile Boarding Pass service.
 
KIOSK Self Check-In
Our self-service kiosk gives you a quick alternative check-in process, you can

Use your passport for International flight check-in.

Select or change your seat assignments after kiosk self check-in.

Check-in other passengers in the same booking record.
 
Counter Check-In

For personal service, our friendly staff at our check-in counters at airports around the world are happy to help you. At the check-in counter, please double-check to ensure that your baggage is tagged for the correct flight and destination, and make sure that the tag number on your luggage is the same as the receipt you retain.

 
  • Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) check-in counter at Cingpu Station

CAL offers passenger one stop check-in service at Cingpu Station of Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), including obtaining boarding passes/ VIP lounge card, bag tag to the destination. After boarding pass has been issued, passengers can proceed directly to security and immigration without carrying any baggie upon arrival at the airport.

CAL check-in counter is located at the first floor (between 5-6 Exit)

After check-in, passengers can purchase their own bus ticket or take a taxi to the airport. CAL will arrange limousine carrying luggage to the airport and directly through the security check then onboard the flight. If there is any security check be needed, CAL will further contact passengers.

Check-in counter is open from 07:00 to 22:00, and will close the service 90 minutes prior to flight departure.
