China Airlines Launches Cargo Service To Seattle(2001 Apr.)

March 29, 2001, Taipei, Taiwan – China Airlines will inaugurate Taipei-Seattle-San Francisco route in early June with two flights per week, making Seattle China Airlines’ ninth all cargo destination in the U.S. At the same time, the Airlines began its summer schedule for cargo on March 25. There are totally 55 cargo flights per week, including 26 trans-Pacific flights, 11 European flights and 18 regional flights in Asia.

In line with market demand, Taipei to Chicago route with 5 weekly flights and Taipei to New York route with 4 weekly flights, both have been added one more flight per week. The routes from Europe via Colombo and Delhi back to Taipei have also been added one weekly flight each. In addition, China Airlines plans to increase the frequency of Taipei-Frankfurt route to 2 weekly flights from April 24.


Up to this moment, China Airlines has introduced 5 B747-400 freighters to replace older B747-200 freighters. The Revenue Ton Kilometer (RTK) in January and February this year increased by 2.54% compared to the same period last year. The cargo revenue also increased by 5.19% in these same months. China Airlines will introduce two more B747-400 freighters in coming April and September.
