Flight CI-586 of
January 26th, a Chinese New Year charter to Shanghai,
was the first direct flight between Taiwan and
China in 53 years.

For new routes establishment,
2003 had been the most fruitful year for China
Airlines. Inauguration of cargo operation to Ho
Chi Minh City, Vietnam took place in February.
At the end of March, cargo service to Manchester,
England was resumed. In July, charter flight services
have been set up between Taipei and Seoul. In
the same month, Taipei and Hanoi began regular
passenger services. In September, passenger services
to Brisbane, Australia was added to the schedule.

At the same time,
strategic alliance with the other operators was
at focus. In June, code share with Delta Airlines
on their flights to Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas
and Salt Lake City began. Starting from August,
Hawaii to the West Coast was also added to the
list. In September, join operating with China
Eastern, Taipei-Okinawa-Shanghai services began.
This has set up a new route for connecting between
the two. Code share with Alitalia between Taipei-Bangkok-Rome
began in October. In December, Thai International
Airways became a code share partner on the Kaoshiung-Bangkok
route.

Two new A340-300
aircraft with two-cabin layout were delivered
in July. They provide a brand new business class
configuration.

services, in October, the customers at the highest
level of the "Dynasty Bonus Mileage Program",
were presented with the newly issued "Paragon

Service Call Center (CSCC) was established. It
is the very first among the national operators
which integrates all aspects of customer related
services. The famous "Hsin-Yeh Taiwanese Cuisine"
was first presented in the In-Flight Service in
2003.

Survey" sponsored by "Common Health Magazine"
awarded China Airlines with the highest award
for being the best in the airline industry. Together
with Alexander Health Club of Alexander Group,

inauguration of the International Airport in Taichung,
China-Airlines performed the historical first
